Microsoft's Xbox One console is the best selling console in October and the "Halo 5: Guardians" is the #1 selling game, according to the NPD Group Inc. Microsoft's Xbox Games Marketing Lead Aaron Greenberg tweeted on Friday.
After several months Xbox One sales in the US came ahead of Sony's PlayStation 4. The game console from Microsoft has been lagging behind Sony's console. PS4 usually leads game console sales with Xbox One occasionally outselling it when it has the edge of promotions or bundles. Sony's console is estimated to have the double install base globally.
Ars Technica noted that NPD does not publish their data referred by Greenberg, but according to Microsoft, according to Micrsoft, compared to last year's October sales, the Xbox One sales increased 81 percent. The new "Halo 5" game released in October was also last month's number 1 selling game.
In figures, that means 360,000 units sold, noted Haloway Point.
The feat happened even with two notable facts: one is PS4 cut price in October, and "Halo 5" was released at the month's tail-end, on October 27. The New Xbox One Experience, or when Microsoft's new software landing on Xbox One on Thursday which brings enhancements, new features and more than a hundred games from Xbox 360 are expected to make the game console more competitive.
Microsoft News enumerated the October top 10 games. The six games trailing the Xbox One exclusive title "Halo 5: Guardians" are all cross-platform titles: "NBA 2K16," "Assassin's Creed: Syndicate," "Madden NFL 16" "WWE 2K16," "FIFA 16," and "Destiny." Except for "Assasin's Creed" which is played on PS4 and Xbox One only, the rest are played on the four game consoles PS3, PS4, Xbox 360 and Xbox One.
Yoshi's "Wooly World" on Nintendo Wii U, "Unchartered: The Nathan Drake Collection" on PS4 and "Rock Band 4" on PS4 and Xbox One occupy the eighth to 10th place.
