MBC's Goal for 2015 'Dae Jang Geum 2'
The sequel to hit drama "Dae Jang Geum" will be produced.
During the "2013 Global Culture Contents Forum" held on the afternoon of October 18th in Yeoido Conrad Hotel, MBC President Kim Jong Guk talked about "Dae Jang Geum 2."
President Kim Jong Guk said that Dae Jang Geum 2 is planned now and after a year of planning, it will be produced in the spring of 2015.
Further, he said he saw that after Dae Jang Geum, there were more exports related Korea including tourism, fashion, music, fashion and even to diplomacy. Just like "Dae Jang Geum" had, he said "Dae Jang Geum 2" will hopefully move the hearts of people around the word."
Producer Lee Byung Hun who is the mastermind of period dramas was in charge of "Dae Jang Geum" in 2003 that had featured Lee Young Ae and Ji Jin Hee. During this time, there was a surge of traditional medicine and royal food as it recorded over 50% in ratings. It was also exported to more than 91 countries as a true marker of the Korean Wave.
