The "Reply 1988" finale is swiftly approaching, with audiences on the edge of their seat to see which childhood friend will marry, Duk Sun (Hyeri) - Jung Hwan (Ryu Jun Yeol) or Taek (Park Bo Gum).

Despite a previous announcement from the tvN production team, which threatened legal action against parties who were responsible for revealing details about the popular program, spoilers continue to be leaked through elected officials and media outlets.

In an article published by E Daily on January 12, representatives for tvN confirmed that Duk Sun will marry someone and substantiated that he is the man who has been depicted in fast forward scenes of the show.

"Her [Duk Sun] husband has will be revealed during an episode, so we are filming under tight security," said a spokesperson for the production.

However, the groom of one wedding scene was revealed by a member of the National Assembly, in a since removed Twitter post, where he promised to announce the husband if his post was shared.

The Korean outlet Sports Today published details from the Twitter message posted by the member of the National Assembly, which revealed that the drama had filmed a wedding at the Sing Dong Airforce Wedding Hall.

Contrary to the information contained within the Tweet, Sports Today speculated that the couple whose marriage was filmed was Sun Woo (Go Kyung Pyo) and his older flame, Sung Bo Ra (Ryoo Hye Young).

TVN responded to the marriage rumors centered on Sun Woo and Bo Ra, without confirming or denying their participation in the scene.

"Sun Woo, Bo Ra marriage?" questioned the spokesperson. "We cannot reveal details about them getting married."

However, the representative went on to state that one of the goals of the on-screen couple was to pursue marriage.

The latest development follows a January 5 article published exclusively by OSEN, which proclaimed the future professions of Duk Sun and Jung Hwan, who are depicted in episode 17 as a flight attendant and pilot, retrospectively.

This led audiences and journalists to speculate that Jung Hwan was the soon-to-be-announced husband. However, supporters of the on-screen couple were perplexed by a brilliant plot twist in episode 18, executed by "Reply" writer Shin Won Ho.

In a pivotal scene, Jung Hwan confessed his true feelings for Duk Sun in front of their friends, only to denounce his rapturous words as a mere joke. Duk Sun appeared to be unmoved and attended a concert with Taek, while Jung Hwan sat weeping in his Jeep, dejectedly acknowledging that his move towards his crush may have been too late.

While the love triangle of Jung Hwan, Duk Sun, and Taek continues to motivate viewers to tune in, there are several other subplots which have yet to be concluded.

Despite the release of spoilers, "Reply 1988" has maintained top ratings, with the cable series recording 20 percent viewership.

The drama concludes this week, with episodes on January 15 and 16.
