Five Fun Facts About Shin Se Kyung

Shin Se Kyung, who recently starred as the two-timing Mi Do in the drama "When A Man Loves," is considering the role of Heo Mi Na in the film "Tazza 2." If she takes it she will play Choi Seung Hyun's love interest.

Here are a few facts you may want to know about her.

1.     The 23-year-old actress has been working for 15 years. For a long time Shin was known as the "Seo Taiji girl." She made her debut at age 8 as a mournful child in the K-pop icon's music video, "Take Five."

"The music video staff told me to cry so I just did," said Shin. "I guess I came across as quite mysterious. They really liked it."

For the next few years, she had a succession of small supporting roles until her role as a housemaid in the "High Kick" series attracted attention and led to bigger parts.

2.     She kissed Bi Rain in the film "R2B: Return To Base" but the scene was cut in post-production.

"There was a sweet kiss scene with Rain oppa, which we shot and finished," she said. "It was a great scene and I'm sad it was edited out."

3.     She got plenty of negative attention for her role in 'When A Man Loves." Her character was not supposed to be likeable but somehow viewers directed their anger at the actress and not the character.

"I couldn't understand her as a woman but I had to express her thoughts and embrace her," said Shin Se Kyung.

While she tried to distance herself from the criticism, it did make her nervous. Fortunately, the support of friends and coworkers helped her overcome her concerns.

"It wasn't just me, but it was everyone that worried about me receiving all of these insults," she said. "Since many people around me comforted me, I thought about how fortunate I was. Feeling loved really does feel great."

4.     Shin Se Kyung admits to being moody and, despite the fact that she's an actress, says that her face is easy to read.

 "I'm shy sometimes and a tomboy in certain moods. My emotions fluctuate easily. People say that actors must never show their emotions up front, but everyone knows what I am feeling just by looking at my face."

5.     What does she do during her rare free time? She likes to perfect her cooking and baking skills by trying out new recipes.

"I was so happy to see my cookies," she said of her first successful baking experiment. "I feel so glad when people enjoy my food."
