The director of "The Attorney" and the "Steel Rain" series, Yang Woo Suk, will reportedly produce the famous cartoon "The Ruler of the Land" into a film. As reports circulated around the movie industry, he already signed a contract for the cartoon's publication rights, which has been a megahit for 26 years.

This cartoon is about growing up and the battle between good and evil. This series marked a new era in Korea's martial arts comics. It is not only famous in Korea, but it reached across Taiwan, China, Japan, and other countries in Asia. Another fun fact is that the cartoon was also set into a game and garnered positive reviews.

Although the original content has fighting scenes, the director will show a few of the characters' sexual contents on a big screen. The powerful take on the story of "The Ruler of the Land" is the characters bringing warm emotions and yet lighthearted comical plot.

In 2010, the cartoon was discussed to be produced as a collaboration in a film between China and Korea. Unfortunately, it did not push through. As for director Yang Woo Suk, he is preparing for the project by signing a ten-year contract.

Meanwhile, rumor has it in the film industry that director Yang also has plans to make it like a martial art version of the "Harry Potter." Doing such work is not new to Yang Woo Suk since he started as a cartoonist and writing webtoons, such as "If Thou Must Love Me."

Making the popular cartoon into a film is something to look forward to and expected to draw wide attention from its fans across borders. This will be another of Yang's trademark as a filmmaker and a webcomic writer that will bring new trends in the entertainment industry.
