Tidal Wave (Haeundae) is considered as the very first disaster theme film in South Korea that has gained attention to the general audience. The story of this film is about a marine geologist who identifies that the Sea of Japan (East Sea) is somewhat having the same activity as the Indian Ocean that created the 2004 Indian Ocean Earthquake. Despite the assurance of the Disaster Prevention Agency that Korea is at no risk, Soon, there is a mega-tsunami that formed and traveled at 500 MPH, a destructive force on the way towards thousands of tourists at Haeundae Beach.

The story of this film started at a Christmas Eve party in a high-end skyscraper of Tower Sky twin tower buildings located in central Seoul. 

There took place a small fire outbreak in the kitchen, and the warning of the faulty water sprinkler system was disregarded by the owner of the building. When the fire was already uncontrollable, two helicopters are then hired to go around the building and spray the building with human-made snow during the party. However, soon even more disaster occurred when the helicopter loses control and crashes into the building thus resulted into a chain of horrific events that threaten the lives of those who reside in the building

The Korean disaster movie "The Flu" talks about a deadly strain of mutated influenza H5N1 virus which is caused by an illegal smuggling activity that spread out like wildfire in the city of Bundang. There were thousands of residents that got infected and those who got the virus would easily infect others and would die within 36 hours. Because it is already uncontrollable, the city needs to be sealed off to contain the virus.

"Tunnel" centers its story on a car salesperson who is in his way home to celebrate his daughter's birthday. He then passes through a tunnel which was not properly constructed. Then, an unexpected turn of events happened when the tunnel collapsed causing him to be trapped inside, buried with tons of concrete and debris, he only has with him his cell phone, two bottles of water and his daughter's birthday cake. In order to survive, he has to follow advices from the head of the rescue team.
