Lee Byung Hun And Jung Yu Mi Win The Best Male And Female Leading Actor Awards At the 2020 BFA
Actor Lee Byung Hun has won the Best Male Leading Actor Award At the 2020 Buil Film Award, and actress Jung Yu Mi won the Best Female Leading Actor Award.
The Buil Film Awards is a South Korean film awards ceremony hosted by the Busan Ilbo newspaper. It began in 1958 as one of the earliest film awards in the country. During the 1950s and 1960s, it was the biggest film awards event in the Busan region and was held annually until 1973. The event went into a 34-year hiatus from 1974 to 2007 when the film industry lost its appeal due to government censorship and the burgeoning television industry.
After an absence of 23 years, the awards were revived when the 17th Buil Film Awards took place on October 9, 2008, at the Grand Hotel in Haeundae District, Busan. It is currently one of the highlights of the ongoing Busan International Film Festival.
On the afternoon of the 22nd of October 2020, the 29th Buil Film Awards 2020 was held at the BEXCO Auditorium in Busan. On this day, the awards ceremony was held without spectators to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
Lee Byung Hun won the Best Actor Award for 'Namsan's Managers.' Lee Byung Hun said, "4 years ago, in 2016, I received the Buil Film Award with Director Woo Min-ho and 'The Insiders', and this time with Director Woo Min Ho again like this. It seems to be a strange relationship. While filming 'Namsan's Managers,' he performed actions that I did not know about. I thought there were a lot of amazingly good actors. Even though all actors were acting for the first time, there were moments where I couldn't stop being surprised. I think it wouldn't be weird if anyone got it. Breathing and synergy with actors can win this prize. I think it's been possible for me to be there. Thank you also to the director," he said.
He continued, "I felt unfamiliar to come to the movie awards ceremony today. There was a sense of tension as if coming for the first time, and I think meeting the audience in the future will also feel awkward. Many people are having a hard time for a long time. I hope the day when I can see it with a smile comes soon."
Jung Yu Mi of 'Kim Ji Young, Born 1982' won the Best Actress Award and expressed her feelings, "I am honored and grateful to receive a big award once again. I will be an actor who works hard with this energy."
Jung Yu Mi competed with Lee Young Ae,'Baseball Girl' Lee Ju Young,'To Yoon Hee' Kim Hee Ae, and 'Beasts Who Want to Catch a Straw' 29th Buil Film Awards Ceremony. She received the final honor for the Best Actress Award.
