‘Medical Top Team’ Suffering, Are They Going Down Totally
Medical Top Team" is falling rapidly.
Neilsen Korea, a ratings research company stated on November 8th, the 10th episode of "Medical Top Team" broadcast the day before rated 3.8%, which was 0.6% lower than the last episode at 4.4%. This is the lowest for it sown records and the lowest among Wednesday/Thursday dramas.
After the first episode of "Medical Top Team" where it rated 7.3% on October 9th, the series has 20 episodes and is continuously going downhill. It's just passed the half way point and after showing 4.9% at episode 7, it went into the 4% range and it declined in episode 9 and episode 10. It now has record low ratings for two episodes in a row.
It's being compared to SBS "The Inheritors" and KBS "Secret" which is aired at the same time because the other two dramas are getting more and more successful. With the episodes on November 7th, "The Inheritors" rated 15.3% and "Secret" rated 17.3% as they are competing for ratings. Especially as these two dramas broke their own records, people were drawn to these dramas.
The MBC Wednesday/Thursday dramas before among "Medical Top Team" are "Two Weeks" "The Classroom of a Queen" and "When a Man Loves" and hasn't received much numerical advantages. The dramas are mostly around the 10% range and doing pretty well themselves. Compared to that, "Medical Top Team" hasn't overcome its original slump and is now in the 3% range that is called the "National Anthem" ratings.
The success of the dramas broadcast in the same period may also have an effect but "Medical Top Team" is a medical drama that is supposed to guarantee basic ratings but lost its charisma with characters that lost their charisma and a failed plot. There are mid-ranged actors Kim Young Ae, Ahn Nae Sang and Kim Ki Bang as well as younger actors Kwon Sang Woo, Jung Ryuh Won, Oh Yeon Su, and Min Ho who are working hard but "Medical Top Team" is loseing power. It'll be interesting to see whether this drama will get back into stable ratings.
