Lee Byung Hun took to social media as he penned a heartfelt message to his "Squid Game" co-star Oh Young Soo. The veteran actor made history as the first-ever South Korean to bag the Best Supporting Actor trophy at the prestigious Golden Globes 2022!

Lee Byung Hun Congratulates Oh Young Soo for his Golden Globe Win

The "Mr. Sunshine" star shared a photo of the 77-year-old Golden Globe winner alongside the "Squid Game" director Hwang Dong Hyuk while on the set of the Netflix series.

In the photo, Oh Young Soo seems to be focused and giving his attention to the instructions of the filmmaker.

Over Lee Byung Hun's Instagram, he also referred to his "Squid Game" role and wrote the congratulatory message with a funny caption.

"This is Front Man speaking. Bravo!!" he wrote.

The veteran actor took home the Best Performance by an Actor in a Supporting Role on Television and defeated fellow nominees including Billy Crudup and Mark Duplass and from "The Morning Show," Keiran Culkin from "Succession," and Brett Goldstein from "Ted Lasso."

With the latest achievement, another South Korean star gave pride to the country by securing a major award at the prestigious ceremony.

Unfortunately, the Netflix series failed to win the Best Drama series after HBO's "Succession" bagged the title.

The same goes for Lee Jung Jae, who was nominated for Best Actor but lost to Jeremy Strong of "Succession."

In the nine-part episode series, Oh Young Soo took on the role of Oh Il Nam, a.k.a player 001, who played a significant character in "Squid Game."

Meanwhile, Lee Byung Hun portrayed the game's Front Man, who happens to be a former winner of the survival game.

According to "Squid Game" director Hwang Dong Hyuk, the second season will focus on the Front Man and Gong Yoo's character who also made a surprising cameo in the Netflix series.

Although the 79th Golden Globe Awards held "privately" without any red carpet or live broadcast, Oh Young Soo expressed his gratitude and mentioned about being "a decent guy" for the first time in his life.

Through Netflix, the veteran actor delivered a message saying, "Now, it's no longer 'us within the world,' but it's 'the world within us.' While embracing the scent of our culture and while embracing the love for my family deep in my heart, I give thanks to everyone in the world. I hope you all live beautiful lives. Thank you."

Oh Young Soo started as a theater acting in the late 1960s and appeared in numerous Kdramas and movies primarily as a monk, including "The Return of Iljimae" in 2009 and "Spring, Summer, Autumn, Winter... and Spring" and "A Little Monk" where he played the role of a temple master.
