For some, smoking is a way to destress, while others prefer to do this when socializing with friends or colleagues. 

While some celebrities get criticized for puffing cigarettes because it might affect their image, these South Korean actors chose to quit smoking for various reasons.

At the height of the drama, Namgoong Min shared his healthy lifestyle for him to bulk up and be fit for the role.

However, he once lived an unhealthy lifestyle that included smoking, but due to his dedication to his character in "I Need Romance 3," Namgoong Min gave up smoking to portray the perfectionist and workaholic character of Kang Tae Yoon. 

Now, it seems like the award-winning star has given up his unhealthy habits and often flaunts his workout routine on his Instagram.

The South Korean heartthrob appeared in MBC's "We Got Married" alongside award-winning actress Kim So Yeon. 

The reality tv show is about two celebrities who are paired up to live as a married couple for a certain period. 

From episodes 287 to 316, viewers witnessed the journey of Kwak Si Yang and Kim So Yeon as husband and wife, dubbing them the "Si So" couple. 

Interestingly, the actor quit smoking because of Kim So Yeon. It was "The Penthouse" actress who asked Kwak Si Yang to ditch smoking, and so he did. 

Interestingly, as noted by Channel Korea, during the finale of their guesting for "We Got Married," Kim So Yeon praised Kwak Si Yang as she described him as a "great man," adding that he showed his true self from start to finish, 

As for the actor, he expressed his gratitude to the actress, who is seven years his senior, noting that she "has changed" him a lot.

Since his debut in 2007, Song Joong Ki has never got involved in controversy except for his divorce with ex-wife Song Hye Kyo and after he was caught puffing a cigarette alongside some cast and crew in his 2017 film "Battleship Island."

Amid the backlash, fans reportedly urged the Hallyu star to quit smoking before getting married to Song Hye Kyo.

In a report, the viral photo was snapped by "Battleship Island" director Ryoo Seung Wan with co-stars So Ji Sub, Hwang Jung Min, and some of the crew. After drawing flak from the public, it was the last time that Song Joong Ki was seen publicly smoking. 

Moreover, the outlet also mentioned that at the time, fans claimed that the South Korean heartthrob totally ditched smoking after he got married to Song Hye Kyo.
