'Emergency Declaration' Surpasses 1 Million Moviegoers

The disaster movie "Emergency Declaration," helmed by director Han Jae Rim, is currently dominating theaters in South Korea. It achieved a new record since it premiered last August 3.

According to a news outlet, the Korean Film Council announced that as of August 6, "Emergency Declaration" had successfully exceeded 1 million moviegoers at the box office.

On the other hand, some of its stars Song Kang Ho, Im Siwan, Lee Byung Hun, and Jeon Do Yeon shared a photo alongside director Han Jae Rim on Instagram celebrating their new milestone.

It has been said that "Emergency Declaration" is closely following the record of the movies "Ashfall" and "Exit," which surpassed the record in three days.

The "Emergency Declaration" cast attended an interview and veteran actor Song Kang Ho praised his younger co-star Im Siwan.

The Cannes award-winning actor shared some stories about his reunion with the idol-actor. The two first worked in the film "The Attorney" in 2013 and are now reunited after almost a decade.

Enthusiastically speaking, the "Parasite" actor highlighted how important Im Siwan's presence and performance were to the film.

According to Song Kang Ho, the "Run On" star was the hidden card of "Emergency Declaration." He revealed that as soon as he finished watching the movie, he immediately texted Im Siwan and praised him.

He added that Im Siwan's performance in the movie was the same as Son Suk Ku's role in the film "The Outlaws 2," also known as "The Roundup."

Song Kang Ho added that Im Siwan's first appearance in the movie until the ending was powerful. Though the ZE:A member was not present at the interview session, due to his filming schedule, Song Kang Ho showed his support to the younger actor.

Meanwhile, Im Siwan will make his immediate return to the silver screen as he is confirmed to lead the upcoming movie "1947 Boston." He is also confirmed to work with "Extraordinary Attorney Woo" star Park Eun Bin.

The upcoming movie is currently being filmed in South Korea.
