‘Alchemy of Souls’ Episode 17: Jung So Min Sacrifices Herself For The Ice Stone
With three episodes left, the truth gets unraveled one by one. In "Alchemy of Souls" episode 17, Jung So Min finally learns about her true identity, leading her to do the unimaginable just to know more. Here's what happened in the latest episode of the drama.
'Alchemy of Souls' Episode 17: Mu Deok Learns The Truth About Her Identity
The new episode of "Alchemy of Souls" begins with the unexpected encounter of Jang Uk (Lee Jae Wook) and his estranged father Jang Gang (Joo Sang Wook).
Lee Jae Wook
Jang Gang warns him about the impending consequences of his actions. Jang Uk thanks him, still not aware that he's his father.
Meanwhile, Mu Deok's (Jung So Min) suspicions about herself grow. After completing the puzzle piece by piece, she realizes that the body she has possessed actually belongs to the successor of the Jinyowon, Jin Bu Yeon.
Jung So Min
In episode 17, the leader of the Jin clan introduces their long-lost daughter who has just returned after 10 long years. Unbeknownst to them, she is a faker, a swindler named So Yi (Seo Hye Won).
Like Mu Deok, So Yi also learns that she's the real Jin Bu Yeon. She becomes more determined to play the part and even plans to take Mu Deok down.
Jin Mu's Biggest Scheme Yet
To realize his plans on creating a world where soul shifters can freely exist, he makes a deal with Jin Ho Gyeong (Park Eun Hye) and uses So Yi to manipulate her.
Jo Jae Yoon
He gathers the Unanimous Assembly to create an uprising against Songrim through Jin Ho Gyeong. Jin Mu and the soul shifter who resides inside the royal queen's body want to legalize the use of sorcery, and reveal the last ice stone in Daeho.
Because So Yi will become the successor of Jinyowon, the royal queen wishes to switch souls with her.
Jung So Min, Lee Jae Wook, Seo Yul, Yoo In Soo
Thankfully, Jang Uk, Mu Deok and Seo Yul (Hwang Minhyun) see right through their schemes and summons Crown Prince Go Won (Shin Seung Ho) to devise a plan.

Jang Uk then asks for the Words of the Heart to read Master Seo Gyeong's will about the ice stones. Seo Yul also figures out the truth about the fake Jin Bu Yeon because of the umbrella he gave to the blind swindler he encountered before.
Shin Seung Ho
Unbeknownst to everyone, even Jin Ho Gyeong also suspects that So Yi is not her real daughter.
Mu Deok Summons Jin Bu Yeon
Since everyone wanted to take a piece of the ice stone despite not seeing its true capabilities and power, the royal king ordered Jin Ho Gyeong to kill Mu Deok and bring her back to life.
Mu Deok agrees in hopes to regain her power back through the ice stone. Jang Uk and his friends are still busy thinking of ways to debunk Jin Mu.
Jung So Min
At the training center, Jin Ho Gyeong uses her power to kill Mu Deok. To her surprise, Naksu's soul is weakened after summoning the body's true identity, Jin Bu Yeon.
Mu Deok's memories flash to her mind one by one, and cries, pleading with her mother who's just as shocked as everyone else.
