‘The Queen’s Umbrella’ Hints at Kim Hye Soo’s Different Traits as Mother & Royal

Kim Hye Soo showcases her versatility as she plays a respected royal in "The Queen's Umbrella."

The renowned actress plays Queen Im Hwa Ryeong, the Joseon King's wife and a mother to princes.

In the latest teaser, tvN hints at Im Hwa Ryeong contradicting personality playing a doting mother and a king's wife in 'The Queen's Umbrella.'

As seen in the still cuts, Kim Hye Soo harbors two different emotions being the Queen and at the same time mother to her children.

In the first teaser, the Queen exudes confidence, grace, and power, proving her charismatic trait as a true leader.

Im Hwa Ryeong stands firm alongside Tae So Yong, played by Kim Ga Eun, and Hwang Gwi In, portrayed by Ok Ja Yeon, as well as the King's mother, Queen Dowager, played by veteran actress Kim Hae Sook.

Interestingly, the second teaser shows off the Queen's side as a mother posing playfully beside her sons.

Moon Sang Min took the role of Prince Sung Nam, along with Yoo Seon Ho as Prince Gye Sung and Yoon Sang Hyun as Prince Mu Ahn.

"The Queen's Umbrella" will not just illustrate Im Hwa Ryeong as the prince's mother but also the challenging part of being a royal and the conflict within the palace.

The upcoming historical K-drama will also feature Choi Won Young as Joseon's King Lee Ho.

Slated to premiere on October 15, "The Queen's Umbrella" will have 16 episodes with a run time of 60 minutes.

Airing every Saturday and Sunday, Kim Hye Soo's new drama will be broadcasted via tvN and subtitles are available on Netflix.

‘The Queen’s Umbrella’ Teaser: Kim Hye Soo Flaunts Regal Aura in New Drama

As obtained by a news portal, tvN released a glimpse of "The Queen's Umbrella" script reading where the cast members also talked about their roles.

Kim Hye Soo revealed why she chose the drama and said that the upcoming tvN series has an "uncanny strength of a historical drama."

"I think it'll become a very fun and refreshing historical drama," she added.

As for Choi Won Young who plays the role of the Joseon King, he hints that the drama will showcase a parents' love for their children.

The 52-year-old star is among the nominees at the APAN Star Awards 2022.

Kim Hye Soo earned a nod for Top Excellence Award, Actress in an OTT Series due to her outstanding performance in Netflix's "Juvenile Justice."

Joining her as nominees for the same category are Kim Go Eun (Yumi's Cells,) Kim Sung Ryung ("Political Fever") Bae Suzy ("Anna"), and Han So Hee ("My Name")

She wowed the viewers with her realistic portrayal of Shim Eun Seok, an elite judge who despises young offenders after a tragic incident that happened to their family.
