So Ji Sub Details Hilarious Blind Date Experience With THIS ‘Single’s Inferno’ Host

So Ji Sub talks about his experience as an athlete, why he got into acting, and his funny dating experience with fellow celebrities.

The top star made a guest appearance on the recent episode of tvN's "You Quiz on the Block," hosted by host Yoo Jae Suk.

Definitely one of the most versatile and not to mention hottest K-drama actors in his 40s, So Ji Sub is best known for his roles in "What Happened in Bali," "I'm Sorry, I Love You," "Oh My Venus" and his latest series "Doctor Lawyer."

From Swimming Competitions to Acting

Interestingly, before he got into acting, used to compete at nationals for the swimming team; hence, the reason he has that strong physique.

He said that during his last term in high school, he placed third in the competition; however, as he was about to go to college, he realized that he wanted something.

So Ji Sub recalled that a friend, who used to go to an acting academy, suggested that he try modeling for jeans, and so he did.

Host Yoo Jae Suk also clarified if Won Bin and Song Seung Heon went to the same audition to which he responded, "I don't remember too well but Seung Heon told me that Won Bin was also there."

From modeling, he entered the world of acting, who at that time considered popular actors were Han Jae Suk, Jang Dong Gun, and Song Seung Heon.

So Ji Sub revealed that he had a lot of rejection telling him that he doesn't fit to become an actor.

He mentioned that he was "incredibly shy" and "uncomfortable speaking in front of others" but had to endure it because of his goal.

The 44-year-old actor opened up that at the time, his "first goal was to earn money as the head of the family."

Thankfully, his acting career flourished after landing his first lead role in the 2000 series "Great Great" followed by "Delicious Proposal" and eventually landing the smash hit K-drama " "What Happened in Bali," with Ha Ji Won and Jo In Sung.

So Ji Sub's Blind Date With Hong Jin Kyung

During his guest appearance, So Ji Sub recalled his funny encounter with "Single's Inferno" host, model, and actress Hong Jin Kyung.

He revealed that actress-host Jung Sun Hee set him up on a blind date with Jin Kyung. However, prior to their date, So Ji Sub was asked who was his ideal type and said English actress Olivia Hussey.

Interestingly, Jung Sun Hee thought he mentioned Olive Oyl, a cartoon character from "Popeye." That is the reason why she introduced So Ji Sub to Hong Jin Kyung.

During the "You Quiz on the Block" broadcast, they reached out to the model-actress as they recalled the blind date.

"I pleaded with her to let me meet you once," Hong Jin Kyung revealed, adding, "I told her not to tell you I was coming."

Jin Kyung also mentioned that she spoke a lot during the blind date but So Ji Sub was very silent at the time.
