'One Dollar Lawyer' Episode 7: Cheon Ji Hoon's New Case

In episode 7, Cheon Ji Hoon (Namgoong Min) takes on a new case which involves Yang Sang Gu (Shin Dam Soo), the JQ Construction finance manager, who tries to take his own life due to frustration.

Elsewhere, Lee Joo Young (Lee Chung Ah) and the rest of the law firm discuss how to handle Cheon Ji Hoon's drastic blow against Choi Ki Tae (Yoon Na Moo), the construction company's CEO.

However, no one can take Cheon Ji Hoon's stubbornness. The following day, Choi Ki Tae denied that he had embezzled slush funds from the company.

Lee Joo Young then threatens that she wouldn't represent a lying client. Choi Ki Tae then asks Cheon Ji Hoon to find Yang Sang Gu first.

Choi Ki Tae Gets Absolved of Murder

Choi Ki Tae also refused to take the blame for Yang Sang Gu's decision but Cheon Ji Hoon explains that even though he didn't kill his employee, telling someone to die is a crime.

As realization dawns on the CEO, he confesses his crimes to the two lawyers and provides proof. He then gets arrested for pushing his employee to die.

Thankfully, Cheon Ji Hoon had saved Yang Sang Gu from taking his own life, absolving Choi Ki Tae from being tried with murder.

Cheon Ji Hoon's Hidden Past

To celebrate, the lawyers go out for a drink. Cheon Ji Hoon and Lee Joo Young exchange playful banters, showing how much the latter likes her colleague.

Prior to parting ways, Cheon Ji Hoon promised Lee Joo Young to find the missing slush funds that created a crack in JQ Construction's foundation.

Thanks to his hard work, he finds a lead. Unfortunately, the evidence connects him to his father who owns a car similar to the suspect's vehicle. He contemplates whether he's allowed to investigate his own father or not.

With Lee Joo Young's help, Cheon Ji Hoon decides to push through the investigation, making him and his father uncomfortable.

Cheon Ji Hoon's Dilemma

During the trial, Cheon Ji Hoon's father denies any connection with Choi Ki Tae. He also refuses to admit that he had received money from the CEO.

After the trial, he drops his father in his own home, only for him to take his own life-which Cheon Ji Hoon couldn't stop anymore. As he laments his father's demise, he receives a strange phone call in his father's phone, raising tension.
