In the interview, he said "At the time I really wanted to play a new role that does not overlap with my previous ones" adding that he is "always up for challenges" and has various roles he hoped to play in the future.

As for his new movie, it is far from his usual rom-com and melodrama projects where viewers see So Ji Sub as the protagonist.

"He made some wrong choices -- one after another. In the end, they pile up and he becomes a villain," he explained.

Helmed by "Marine Boy" director Yoon Jong Seok, the upcoming movie "Confession" is a remake of the 2017 Spanish film "The Invisible Guest."

It depicts the story of tech CEO Yoo Min Ho who is the prime suspect in a murder case involving Kim Se Hee, played by Nana.

In the movie, Kim Yoon Jin plays Yoo Min Ho's lawyer, Yang Shin Ae, who is determined to win the case to retain her status of 100 percent winning rate.

When asked if there was any pressure playing the remake movie, So Ji Sub got honest and said that he "did not have pressure doing a remake project" because of his 2018 movie "Be With You" starring Son Ye Jin.

It is based on the famous Japanese movie of the same name released in 2004.

"I filmed that drama with all my passion for acting. So watching it brings me energy," he said.
