Youn Yuh Jung Reportedly Declined 'Curtain Call' Offer

This fall, a world class melodrama is about to hit the screen as Kang Ha Neul, Ha Ji Won and Go Doo Shim team up!

"Curtain Call" is an upcoming drama that follows the story of an amateur theater actor who commits the biggest fraud of his life: to play the role of a grandson to a grandmother with numbered days.

In the series, Kang Ha Neul takes on the role of Yoo Jae Heon, a theater actor who plays a vital role in Park Se Yeon (Ha Ji Won) and her grandmother Ja Geum Soon's (Go Doo Shim) lives.

But did you know that Ha Ji Won and Go Doo Shim were not originally cast for their roles? The production unit reveals that the character played by Ha Ji Won would have been Son Ye Jin's new acting role if it weren't for her pregnancy.

Son Ye Jin chose to focus more on her new journey as a mother and take a break from the spotlight. Meanwhile, Go Doo Shim's character was originally offered to Oscar winner Youn Yuh Jung.

The role that Youn Yuh Jung turned down is Ja Geum Soon, a woman who built a hotel in hopes to reunite with her missing husband and children.

Thankfully, the role is given to an equally talented actress, Go Doo Shim. Although the reason why Youn Yuh Jung declined the offer was never disclosed to the public, it is speculated that the veteran star has her roster packed with filming. 

At the moment, she is gearing up for her forthcoming films "Heaven: To the Land of Happiness" and "Dog Days.

Kang Ha Neul, Ha Ji Won, More Are a Perfect Family in 'Curtain Call'

In the poster released by KBS, Yoo Jae Heon, Park Se Yeon and Ja Geum Soon flaunt their elegant family against the backdrop of the latter's rich library.

Ja Geum Soon sports a warm smile while Park Se Yeon beams at the camera. At the back is Yoo Jae Heon who looks so comfortable and content.

The text on the poster reads "final theater performance" which pertains to Yoo Jae Heon's role as Ja Geum Soon's grandson in order to fulfill her last wish.

Catch Kang Ha Neul, Ha Ji Won and Go Doo Shim in "Curtain Call" this October 31 at 9:50 p.m. KST on KBS!
