Kim Yong Ji talks about her experience and thoughts about her new drama "Somebody."

The rising actress is among the lead stars of the upcoming psychological drama series, joining Kim Young Kwang, Kang Hae Lim, and Kim Soo Yeon.

During the press conference, ahead of the premiere of "Somebody" Kim Yong Ji shared how she prepared for her role as a shaman.

Kim Yong Ji Gains Weight for New Drama 'Somebody'

In the upcoming series, Kim Yong Ji took the role of a shaman named Mok Won.

She is helping detective Ki Eun played by Kim Soo Yeon, to uncover the murder that she is investigating.

During the media briefing, Kim Young Ji details her preparation for the role of Mok Won, one of which is gaining weight.

The actress confessed that it " wasn't easy" but she enjoyed it until a certain moment.

However, the rising star pointed out that there are times when she finds it "difficult" to see herself in the mirror as she notices the changes in her body.

It was Director Jung Ji Woo who proposed Kim Yong Ji to gain weight which she agreed and explained that it will add warmth to her image.

Despite the changes, the actress says that she "did not regret it" and was happy to see the results upon seeing it on screen for the first time.

On the other hand, the "Somebody" director praised the actress for her commitment and said that her weight gain suits her best.

'Somebody' Director Jung Ji Woo Reveals Reason for Casting Kim Yong Ji

As the "Somebody" press conference continued, the director asked why he offered the role of a shaman to Kim Yong Ji.

"She had something unknown inside her but felt like she wasn't showing it well" the director pointed out.

Interestingly, before the premiere of "Somebody," Kim Yong Ji made her debut in the 2018 series "Mr. Sunshine" playing the character of a fortune teller named Hotaru.

It was then followed by a special appearance in "WATCHER," and Lee Min Ki's mystery thriller "The Lies Within."

She had her big break in 2020 hit K-drama "The King: Eternal Monarch" playing Myung Na Ri and Myung Seung Ah, who is also the love interest of Woo Do Hwan's character Jo Eun Sub.

From one blockbuster K-drama to another, Kim Yong Ji landed another remarkable role in "Tale of the Nine-Tailed" with Lee Dong Wook, Kim Bum, and Jo Bo Ah.

Release Date and Where to Watch 'Somebody'

Based on the hit novel "American Psycho" written by Brett Easton Ellis, "Somebody" initially premiered at Busan International Film Festival but will have its small screen debut on November 18, exclusively on Netflix.

The 8-part episode K-drama depicts the story of a murder case involving a social connecting app "Somebody" created by developer Sung Yun Oh (Kim Young Kwan.)

With this, detective Ki Eun with the help of shaman Mok Won investigates the mysterious case.
