Youn Yuh Jung Gaslighted by Hook Entertainment? ‘Pachinko’ Star’s Past Remark Resurfaces Amid Agency’s Controversy

One of the renowned actors in South Korea, the 75-year-old top star's career spans over five decades and she has been under the agency for quite some time.
However, despite the pride, she brought to the country and a slew of awards under her belt, Youn Yuh Jung says she has not received any endorsements.
Youn Yuh Jung Opens Up About Not Getting Sponsorships
Her past interview where she spoke about not getting advertisement deals resurfaced after Hook Entertainment got embroiled in various issues.
During her appearance on "MMTG" the Academy Award-winning actress says that she does not reuse sponsorship but mentioned that she didn't get any offers.
"Because if old people wear clothes, people won't buy them, saying 'I am not that old,'" adding, "So I buy all the clothes and wear them," she added, as obtained by a media outlet.
On the other hand, the public says that there's no way Youn Yuh Jung won't get sponsorship and brand deals. Given her achievements and status in the industry, she would surely be an asset to brands.
However, others speculate that the top star might have been gaslighted.
Youn Yuh Jung has been in the industry since 1971 and has won various awards both locally and internationally.
The 75-year-old top star gained global fame after bagging Best Supporting Actress in the 93rd Academy Awards, also known as Oscars, for the movie "Minari."

Moreover, she also won a Screen Actors Guild (SAG) Award and a British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) Award for the same movie. This made Youn Yuh Jung the first Korean actor to win an award at any of the 3 prestigious award-giving bodies.
Youn Yuh Jung's Side Denies Leaving Hook Entertainment
Before her past remarks resurfaced, rumors sparked that Youn Yuh Jung is leaving Hook Entertainment due to the controversy surrounding the talent label.
It was after a local media outlet reported that the "Pachinko" star had decided to part ways with her longtime agency after "deep thought and consideration."
The outlet also quoted an industry insider who mentioned that Youn Yuh Jung has been "verbally renewing her contract with her current agency based on trust for a long time."
However, Hook Entertainment clarified the issue and shut down rumors that the top star is leaving the label.
On the other hand, the agency is facing issues with their longtime talent Lee Seung Gi after he demanded Hook Entertainment to present full disclosure of profits for his music projects.
At the height of the issue, Dispatch cited that the actor-singer released around 137 songs but didn't get a single cent for his music career.
