In the new SBS action crime drama "The First Responders," Kim Rae Won, Son Ho Jun and Gong Seung Yeon transform into police officers and firemen to stop corruption and aid the victims of abuse, murder and other heinous crimes.

Jin Ho Gae Meets Bong Do Jin and Song Seol

The drama begins with Jin Ho Gae (Kim Rae Won) examining his violent actions towards a citizen despite being a law enforcer.

In his defense, the civilian he was beating up was a bad guy and as a police officer, he was just giving the other his rightful punishment.

Elsewhere, Bong Do Jin (Son Ho Jun) and Song Seol (Gong Seung Yeon) enjoy their cup of ramen during their break at the fire station.

However, before they even begin to eat, the siren blasted due to an emergency. The firemen collaborated with the police as the emergency turned out to be a kidnapping case in a large apartment building with more than thousands of tenants.

The kidnapper was a medical practitioner who treathens to torture the hostage victim. Though it would anger the team leader, Jin Ho Gae tries to control the situation on his own.

Bong Do Jin and Song Seol prioritized the victim's situation. However, Jin Ho Gae then makes a drastic decision by setting the whole apartment complex on fire, much to Bong Do Jin and Song Seol's distaste.

Jin Ho Gae burns himself while he tries to take down the criminal who had killed women, including the hostage victim.

As it was an open-and-shut case, Jin Ho Gae became more determined to comb the city for criminals. He then signs a new house on the same floor as Bong Do Jin and Song Seol.

Jin Ho Gae Encounters A Case Close To Home

Jin Ho Gae, Bong Do Jin and Song Seol begin their days with nonstop emergency calls, keeping them at their toes.

Even if they have been in the profession for many years, they aren't still desensitized with death and other major occurrences, but are forced to live with it.

The next emergency they tended to was to aid a teenage girl who tried to kill herself. While Jin Ho Gae prioritizes the case, Song Seol is more concerned with the victim.

When it comes to principles, the two clash, leaving an awkward situation between them. However, they set aside their differences as police and firemen in order to work together.

Minutes later, the young girl dies at the hospital due to the lack of oxygen and poisoning. It is revealed that she was a victim of sex-related crime and blackmail.

Jin Ho Gae shows compassion when he asks for the mother's permission to perform a rape kit test to the deceased girl's body, however, it was taken in the wrong context.

Turns out that he was right; the teenage girl was blackmailed with her risque photos, and was goaded to kill herself by her own classmate.

The tragedy hits closer to home as Jin Ho Gae remembers another teen who experienced the same thing, opening a never-healing wound.

Meanwhile, Jin Ho Gae's father, chief prosecutor Jin (Jo Seung Yeon) displays dislike as his son pursued becoming a police rather than being a lawyer.

The Secret Behind Jin Ho Gae's Haunted Apartment

At his new apartment, Jin Ho Gae discovers blood under the wooden floor that insinuates murder.

He recruits Bong Do Jin to solve the mystery, and soon discovers a bag of bones which matches the DNA of the man who suddenly disappeared.

Though the victim suffered an immediate demise, the drama brings viewers to the beginning of it all. It turns out that the man abused his girlfriend and forced her to get their unborn baby aborted.

Because Jin Ho Gae's father wasn't satisfied with his current profession, he accuses him of murder related of the teenage girl from his past, leaving viewers in confusion.

The next case begins with Jin Ho Gae disguising himself as a felon to find out whether a loan shark forged documents to pick on a client.
