Lee Jong Suk Breaks Record as First Actor To Win Daesang Twice at MBC Drama Awards
Lee Jong Suk is ending the year with a bang after winning the grand prize at the 2022 MBC Drama Awards. The actor also made history at the annual awarding ceremony for achieving the highest honor twice.
From Rom-Com King to Daesang King - Lee Jong Suk Gains New Title This Year
On December 30, talented stars gathered for this year's awarding ceremony. After competing in different categories, Lee Jong Suk is named as Daesang winner at the 2022 MBC Drama Awards.
It was a recognition for his impeccable acting in his legal-revenge series "Big Mouth," which was also his comeback drama following his military discharge.

To recall, "Big Mouth" follows the story of an incompetent lawyer, who gets involved in a murder case. Later on, he finds himself framed as the famous con man Big Mouse. Lee Jong Suk headlined the series and portrayed the character of Park Chang Ho in which he proved his wide acting spectrum.
Lee Jong Suk First Actor To Win Daesang Twice in MBC Drama Awards
Thanks to his passionate and incredibly consistent acting, "Big Mouth" concluded with the highest viewer rating peak of 13.7 and was even selected as MBC's best hit in 2022.
In addition, this is not the first time that the K-drama heartthrob won the grand prize. Six years ago, Lee Jong Suk was lauded by the crowd as he was hailed as the Daesang recipient in the 2016 MBC Drama Awards for the webtoon-based series "W: Two Worlds."
Due to his two Daesang trophies, Lee Jong Suk broke a record as the first actor to receive the highest award twice in the MBC Drama Awards history. Other stars who have received the Daesang (grand prize) are Kim Hee Ae, Go Doo Shim, and Chae Shi Ra. The actress who owns the best record with three Daesangs in 1988, 1992, and 1999 is veteran artist Kim Hye Ja.
Furthermore, no male stars had won Daesang twice at the MBC Drama Awards, and it was Lee Jong Suk who became the first actor to achieve it.
Besides the grand prize, the male star also received the Best Couple Award alongside "Big Mouth" co-star and first-time on-screen partner Im YoonA.
Meanwhile, Lee Jong Suk also made his big screen comeback last November in the action-adventure movie "Decibel" together with Cha Eun Woo and Kim Rae Won. The film received massive support from fans in Korea and abroad.
Fans are now looking forward to the actor's upcoming projects in 2023.
