CNBLUE's leader Jung Yong Hwa marked his acting return with "Brain Works." It is safe to say that he made a successful comeback as the series kicked off with impressive ratings on its pilot week. 

Jung Yong Hwa's New K-Drama 'Brain Works' Kicks Off With Good Rating

KBS had a prosperous start this 2023 as they launched the new medical-comedy series "Brain Works" on January 2. Starring the comic duo Cha Tae Hyun and Jung Yong Hwa, the drama was able to record an impressive rating on its first episode. 

According to Nielsen Korea, "Brain Works" successfully garnered a viewership rating of 5.2 percent on its pilot episode. In particular, the highest viewer rating per minute soared to 6 percent in the emotional scene of Cha Tae Hyun.

'Brain Works' Episode 1: Shin Ha Ru Encounters Detective Geum Myung Se

In the first episode, a story was told to announce the start of the first meeting and cooperative investigation involving the world-famous brain neuroscientist Shin Ha Ru (played by Jung Yong Hwa) and detective Geum Myung Se (Cha Tae Hyun). They had a bad impression of each othe,r which later on-resulted in Ha Ru taking revenge on Myung Se.

Above all, Jung Yong Hwa immersed himself in the character of Shin Ha Ru, a brain neuroscientist with a 99% narcissism index that has never been shown before. From the action of fighting a fierce physical fight against a murderer, he showed confidence even after secretly being caught at the autopsy site, and realistically expressed Shin Ha Ru's aspect of discovering a suspicious personality as a brain scientist.

His co-star, Cha Tae Hyun also captivated many with his performance. From his inability to reuse his ex-wife's request to comply with Shin Ha Ru's ridiculous appeal, he drew laughter with his unique realistic acting.

"Brain Works" marks Jung Yong Hwa's acting comeback following "Sell Your Haunted House." The idol-actor is exhibiting a new side of himself in this work and is expected to show great synergy with his veteran co-actor Cha Tae Hyun.
