Bae Doona talks about her upcoming K-drama "Next Sohee" and reveals why she is fond of headlining mystery shows 

Known for her awards and global fame, the 43-year-old star is recognized for her versatility and ability to deliver top-notch performance.

As the award-winning actress stars in back-to-back activities, Bae Doona shares thoughts about past and upcoming projects and why she keeps on choosing mystery drama as her next on-screen projects.

Bae Doona on Creating Better World for Children Through Her Films and Series

In an interview conducted by media outlet WikiTree, the South Korean star was asked why the majority of her films and K-dramas were in the mystery genre and centers on children.

Bae Doona says that she wants "young people to live in a better world" and see it through her dramas hence why she'll "definitely going to join more movies about children" in the future.

Moreover, the actress talks about her struggles and how she didn't want young people to experience the trials that she has been through.

"I think I can somehow tell children about everything in their process of becoming adults. Basically, I think children should be protected and live a happy life," the actress added.

Bae Doona has a slew of remarkable mystery series and films under her belt.

The award-winning movie "A Girl at My Door" transformed the 43-year-old star into a local police officer who is sent to work in a small village.

There, she meets a teenager named Sun Do Hee, played by Kim Sae Ron, and takes her in to protect her from her abusive stepfather.

Apart from it, Bae Doona headlined the hit K-drama "Stranger" seasons 1 and 2 playing the role of Lieutenant Han Yeo Jin, and worked alongside the top-notch prosecutor Hwang Shi Mok played by Cho Seung Woo.

They joined forces to eradicate corruption at the prosecutors' office and solve a serial murder case.

From "A Girl at My Door" and "Stranger" she also played a police officer role in "Broker." The drama film revolves around brokers who find a new family for a baby left in a baby box or a safe place for children to be placed if parents feel that they don't fit to take care of them.

Interestingly, after the successful premiere of her comeback movie "Broker" at the 2022 Cannes Film Festival along with award-winning Song Kang Ho, IU, Kang Dong Won, and more, Bae Doona has a back-to-back movies that also made a debut at the prestigious festival.

"Next Sohee" is the first Korean film to be selected as the closing film at the 2022 Cannes Film Festival and screened as part of Canada's Fantasia International Film Festival.

Bae Doona New Movie: 'Next Sohee' Release Date

Months after its premiere at international film festivals, "Next Sohee" officially hit local theaters this February.

It follows the story of a high school student named So Hee, played by Kim Si Eun who gets murdered.

The fearless detective Oh Yu Jin, portrayed by Bae Doona investigates the murder case.

It will be Bae Doona's second film with director July Jung who also helmed the movie "A Girl at My Door."
