Following the blind item regarding a top star who got involved in a drug issue, the police confirmed that the said celebrity is Yoo Ah In.

The news came after Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency investigated the "Hellbound" star for violating the Narcotics Control Act for suspicion of propofol use.

Yoo Ah In Controversy: Award-Winning Star Caught Up in Drug Use

In a report, the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety requested the police to investigate Yoo Ah In due to suspicion of repeatedly prescribed propofol.

The said drug is a non-barbiturate sedative, mostly used in hospital settings by trained anesthetists for the sedation, induction, and maintenance of general anesthesia, for a period of up to 72 hours.

On February 6, the authorities have requested the National Institute of Scientific Investigation to examine the award-winning star's body hair to confirm whether he habitually used propofol.

As the investigation continues, the travel ban was also imposed on the actor.

Yoo Ah In's Agency Responds to Actor's Shocking Controversy

The actor's agency, UAA, released a brief statement addressing the propofol use and violation of the narcotics act. They have confirmed that Yoo Ah In is being investigated and is very cooperative with the police.

"Recently, Yoo Ah In underwent police investigation pertaining to propofol," Yoo Ah In's agency mentioned in a statement, as obtained by the outlet, adding, "He is actively cooperating in all investigations regarding this and we plan to proactively address the aspects that are a problem."

Unfortunately, because of the controversy, his current and upcoming project is also affected.

In the same report, each production company and related parties have reportedly started a countermeasure meeting and keeping a close eye on the results of the investigation.

While the probe is still ongoing, it appears that the release schedule of some projects will have changes.

Yoo Ah In's Upcoming Projects

After Netflix's "Hellbound" Yoo Ah In is set to headline "Goodbye Earth." The upcoming K-drama is a thriller-psychological series based on the webtoon "The Fool at the End of the World." It depicts the journey of humans with only 200 days to live until Earth's collision with an asteroid.

Joining Yoo Ah In in "Goodbye Earth" as the lead star is "Hospital Playlist" actress Ahn Eun Jin as former middle school tutor Jin Se Kyung.

Adding to the list of the cast is Jeon Sung Woo as head Priest Damiano and "Shooting Stars" actress Kim Yoon Hye as combat service support battalion commander Kang In Ah.

Helmed by Kim Jin Min of Netflix's "My Name" and "Extracurricular," and penned by Jung Sung Joo of "Secret Love Affair," Yoo Ah In's new drama is on the stage of completing final preparations to start its production soon.
