All eyes are now on the much-awaited "Squid Game" season 2, with some of the cast reprising their roles. Interestingly, a media outlet shared hints and what to expect in the upcoming sequel.

To recall, Netflix officially confirmed the release of the second season of "Squid Game" after the creator and director Hwang Dong Hyuk wrote a special message to fans.

In a letter shared on the streaming giant's official account, he revealed that took him "12 years to bring the first season of Squid Game to life" but made "Squid Game" the "most popular Netflix series ever" in just 12 days since its premiere.

Expressing his gratitude to viewers and fans worldwide, he announced that "Squid Game" will return with season 2, along with familiar faces which include Lee Jung Jae as Seong Gi Hoon and Lee Byung Hun as the frontman.

In addition, he also hints that Gong Yoo's mysterious role as the agent might also appear.

Lastly, "Squid Game" season 2 will have a new villain through Young Hee's boyfriend, Cheol Su.

Amid the waiting game, Screenrant released an article predicting the possible changes in the upcoming sequel.

'Squid Game Season 2' Spoilers: What to Expect From Lee Jung Jae, Lee Byung Hun's Character

In an article, it hints that Lee Byung Hun's role, the Frontman, will be the center of "squid Game" season 2, showing a "dark narrative" of the character.

To recall, season 1 showed that his younger brother, played by Wi Ha Joon, infiltrated the game to find him. However, he was surprised that he turned out to be the Frontman. He was the sole winner of the previous challenge.

On the other hand, the media outlet raised speculation that Seong Gi Hoon's return will be a bold move against the organization.

With his character's growth, he is predicted to "attempt to take down the organization from the inside."

However, Screenrant thinks that if "Squid Game" season 2 will focus on this idea and does not replace Seong Gi Hoon as the main character, it will be a "bad idea" for the show considering that millions of viewers are looking forward to much intense installment.

"Focusing on Gi Hoon again would make Squid Game season 2 feel repetitive, meaning focusing on season 1's Gi-hun tease as a main story is a bad idea," the article reads.

Netflix Says 'Squid Game Season 2' Will be 'More Enjoyable'

Following Hwang Dong Hyuk's message to fans, Netflix executive producer Kim Ji Yeon shared in Tudum they are planning to "focus on how to make it even more joyful to the global audience."

However, they admitted that it brought them "a lot of pressure on how to make [Season 2] even better" considering that season 1 made a historic achievement and at the same time is well-loved around the world.
