In December 2022, Lee Jong Suk drew attention at the MBC Drama Awards after his acceptance speech, which he dedicated to his special someone. To prevent any rumors, the actor's agency stated that he was only expressing his personal gratitude.

However, on December 31, Dispatch and various media outlets confirmed that Lee Jong Suk and IU were officially dating for four months already at the time.

The paparazzi photos were also revealed, wherein the duo was spotted at the airport while on their way to Nagoya, Japan. 

Lee Jong Suk and IU first met in 2012 through SBS' music show "Inkigayo," but they began dating as actor and singer ten years later.

Meanwhile, not everyone knows that Lee Jong Suk was an idol-trainee before he entered the world of acting; thus, making him and IU close to becoming an "idol couple."

Did You Know? Lee Jong Suk Almost Debuted as Idol

The actor revealed on a TV program in October 2012 that he trained for three months to become an idol for the position of a rapper. According to him, his supposed group name was REAL. However, the trainees of the group made their debut under a different name.

In January 2013, the "Pinocchio" lead actor mentioned his idol-trainee career again on KBS' "Entertainment Weekly."

In particular, he enrolled in an acting school in middle school, after watching Rain in the rom-com drama "Full House." Sadly, he joined the wrong company and became a model instead, unintentionally.

The heartthrob was the youngest male model who debuted at the Seoul Collection in 2005. In a short period of stay, he left the modeling company, and moved to a record company and unintentionally prepared to become an idol. But it turned out that it was not the right path for him, and quit the trainee life after three months.

Lee Jong Suk Finally Found His Success

Finally, Lee Jong Suk entered the acting industry and made his acting debut through the legal series "Prosecutor Princess." Since then, he gained attention from the directors and landed roles in "High Kick Season 3," "Secret Garden," and the film "R2B: Return to Base."

He continued his popularity with successful projects like "I Can Hear Your Voice," "Pinocchio," "W: Two Worlds," "While You Were Sleeping," and "Big Mouth."

Lee Jong Suk interestingly made use of his career as an idol trainee to build a history in music. In 2017, he lent his voice as the actor officially sang the OSTs of his drama "While You Were Sleeping."
