Kim Sae Ron Faces Trial 10 Months After Drunk Driving Incident + Receives 20 Million Won Fine

After 10 months after the drunk driving incident, Kim Sae Ron appears in court for the first time.

All eyes are on the actress as the former child star has been charged with violating the Road Traffic Act. The actress was spotted by the media coming in and leaving the Seoul Central District Court on March 8 as she attends her first trial.

Kim Sae Ron Drunk Driving Update: Actress Fined With 20 Million KRW

To recall, the "The Great Shaman Ga Doo Shim" star made headlines after she smashed her car near the Hakdong intersection in Gangnam Seoul, at around 8 am on May 18. The incident caused a disturbance and disruption of business in the neighborhood.

On top of it, public properties such as transformer substations have been affected by the incident.

After months of investigation, the actress attended her first trial after Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office Criminal Division 5, headed by chief prosecutor Choi Woo Young indicted her on charges of Road Traffic Act violation.

According to the media, the prosecution requested the court to sentence her to a fine of 20 million KRW. Meanwhile, her passenger faces fine of 5 million KRW.

At the height of the issue, Kim Sae Ron was suspected of leaving the incident and planned not to take any action after causing inconvenience to the neighborhood.

During the authorities' investigation, the actress refused to have her blood alcohol level measured, and instead, she had her blood drawn at a nearby hospital.

Based on the result released by the National Institute of Scientific Investigation, the 22-year-old star's blood alcohol level was 0.2%, which is said to be above the license revocation level of 0.08 percent.

Kim Sae Ron Admits Charges Following the Trial's Decision

In the same outlet, the "Mirror of the Witch" star expressed her true feelings towards the update of her charges. She "admits" the charges and says that she is "deeply reflecting and regretting" her action. Moreover, she promised, "never commit a crime like this again."

Apart from it, Kim Sae Ron reportedly mentioned during the trial that she was expecting a substitute driver before the incident, and explained why it didn't push through.

"I called the substitute driver and thought it was easy because the road to the call place was a short distance," she recalled.

Kim Sae Ron Faces Consequences Following the DIU Charges

It was previously reported that Kim Sae Ron worked part-time jobs after spending most of her savings for the compensation relating to the incident.

The actress' lawyer mentioned that Kim Sae Ron is "suffering from living difficulties as the head of household," and asked the people to treat the actress with "mercy as much as possible."

To recall, the 22-year-old star dropped out from her upcoming projects, particularly in "Trolley," due to the DIU scandal, and was replaced by Jung Soo Bin of "Rookie Cops" and "Juvenile Justice."
