Yoo Ah In's drug-related scandal has affected not just the actor but also the people and companies whom he worked with on his upcoming projects.

As the investigation with the actor continues, various media outlets shared thoughts about the possible effect of the controversy on the K-dramas and movies, featuring the award-winning top star.

Known for his amazing portrayal and skill of playing various characters, Yoo Ah In gained respect not just from viewers but also producers, hence why the actor has a long list of forthcoming on-screen projects this 2023.

Unfortunately, authorities run a probe after the "Seoul Vibe" star is accused of habitually using propofol, a sedative, and anesthetic, often use in a hospital setting that could make a patient relax or sleep before and during surgery or other medical procedures.

However, as the probe requires Yoo Ah In to undergo various examines, his urine and hair strand tests showed surprising results.

The actor tested positive for four types of substances, from propofol, and hemp, to cocaine and ketamine.

With this, the controversy brought a major blow to Yoo Ah In's career, leaving him with brands dropping his endorsements and changes in his on-screen projects.

Industry Official Says 'Damage of Yoo Ah In's Controversy is Even Greater' Than COVID-19

As cited by a news portal, there is a current discussion about whether the actor's screen time should be reduced so it will only have a minimal change with the editing.

However, it will be completely difficult to erase Yoo Ah In's appearance.

On the other hand, a representative from a distribution company pointed out that the "damage of Ah In's controversy is even greater" than the special circumstances brought by COVID-19 in the industry.

"It has been reported that the production cost of 'The Match' alone has exceeded 20 billion won, and when combined with the other two films, the loss can amount to hundreds of billions of won," an official mentioned as obtained by a media outlet.

Moreover, it was also mentioned that " related parties will suffer tremendous losses" if on-screen projects won't be able to premiere due to the actor's issue.

The same goes for a film director who lamented about the effects of the drug issue on the lined-up projects.

The director pointed out that on-screen projects involve a "hundreds of people, including production and distribution companies, directors and staff, and investors" and not just the lead stars.

Hence these people will also suffer the consequences because of Yoo Ah In but didn't disregard the fact that Yoo Ah In's drug involvement is also a crime.

"Therefore, we must approach it carefully. However, it is clear that there won't be many people who agree to release a work that is likely to be shunned due to a serious crime," the filmmaker raised.

Yoo Ah In's Upcoming Movies and K-dramas

The award-winning star previously confirmed his comeback as The New Truth leader in "Hellbound 2" but was replaced by the equally talented Kim Sung Cheol after Yoo Ah In dropped out from the series due to the investigation.

On the other hand, his upcoming K-drama "Goodbye Earth" have successfully wrapped up the series as well as "High Five" and "The Match" which will have changes on their scheduled premiere.
