THIS Song Hye Kyo K-Drama is Considered ‘Turning Point’ in Her Career

From rom-com to revenge drama, Song Hye Kyo proves her versatility after "Ther Glory" made a huge hit.

The actress once expressed her gratitude to her previous K-drama "Autumn in My Heart" for being recognized as one of the best. According to a media outlet, Song Hye Kyo's drama often garners high viewership ratings, especially her KBS series "Autumn in My Heart," also known as "Autumn Tale."

Released in 2000, the Hallyu star headlined the series, along with Song Seung Heon, while Moon Geun Young and Choi Woo Hyeok played the young version of their characters.

Helmed by Yoon Seok Ho of "Winter Sonata," "Love Rain," and "Summer Scent," along with screenwriter Oh Soo Yun, the melodrama is one of the highest rating K-dramas under KBS, with an average viewership rating of 38.6 percent, and reached a peak viewership of 46.1 percent.

In addition, the Song Hye Kyo-led K-drama is known as the prime of the "Korean Wave." Due to its popularity, it was remade in Filipino, Thai, and Chinese.

Interestingly, Song Hye Kyo once mentioned why the drama is close to her heart.

Expressing her gratitude to the series, Song Hye Kyo mentioned the 2000 K-drama as her stepping stone to being recognized in the world of acting.

"I was at a crossroads where I wondered if I could become a traditional actor," she said, as obtained by a news portal, adding, "Through 'Autumn in My Heart,' I was recognized as an actor who can also do traditional dramas."

Besides the high viewership ratings, "Autumn in My Heart" bagged numerous recognitions. The Hallyu star won Popularity Award, while Won Bin took home Best New Actor at the 37th Baeksang Arts Awards.

The same goes for KBS Drama Awards in 2000, where Song Hye Kyo and Song Seung Heon won Popularity Award and Photogenic Award, while the series was hailed as the Viewer's Choice Drama.

"The Glory" Part 2 is one of the most anticipated series this 2023 as the story continues Moon Dong Eun's revenge.

Penned by the renowned screenwriter Kim Eun Sook, who worked with Song Hye Kyo in "Descendants of the Sun," it depicts the story of a high school student victimized by bullying and harassment by her classmates. After years of waiting, she executes her plan to take revenge against her perpetrators.
