'The Glory' Team Checked Actors' School Records Prior To Filming

Netflix's "The Glory" captivates the viewers with its gripping premise and jaw-dropping production!

Released on March 10, the second half of the work focused on the extraction of Moon Dong Eun's (Song Hye Kyo) revenge on her perpetrators that made her life miserable.

Due to its timely concept, the series immediately enjoyed huge success in the domestic and international scenes.

It also took the No. 1 spot in the Netflix global charts in 79 countries including the Philippines, Vietnam, Canada, the US, Turkey, Pakistan and more.

In the past year, a growing number of actors had been caught in a scandal involving misconduct towards their fellow schoolmates during their high school years-this created a more competitive environment in the Hallyu industry.

Apart from that, the production unit will suffer from its consequences that sometimes include the loss of budget for the work, time wasted for refilming and recasting and more.

In a recent interview with Netflix Korea, "The Glory" actress Cha Joo Young, who played one of the bullies in the series, revealed that the management had checked their school records prior to filming.

'The Glory' Director Denies School Violence Rumors

While the cast of the revenge series is safe from scandals, "The Glory" director Ahn Gil Ho made headlines!

Ahead of Part 2's premiere on March 10, school bullying allegations against Ahn Gil Ho circulated online.

According to reports, the director assaulted his classmate during his time as a student in the Philippines. However, Ahn Gil Ho denied the allegations and claimed that he didn't hit anyone.

On March 12, the director's lawyer Kim Mun Hui from JIPYONG released a statement, saying that his client asks for forgiveness.

It is revealed that Ahn Gil Ho had a girlfriend in the Philippines in 1996 who was the subject of endless teasing inside the classroom. The director became emotional and punched a person with an unforgettable wound.

Ahn Gil Ho deeply regrets what he did and if given the opportunity, the director would like to reconcile with the person and personally ask for their forgiveness.

Fans are divided with the incident, saying that the drama is useless if its own director was a school bully. However, some fans stated that Ahn Gil Ho only retaliated for defense.
