Based on a news cited by Nate on April 13, the American movie "The Idol," where BLACKPINK Jennie's starred, is one of the works invited to the out-of-competition category at the 76th Cannes International Film Festival.
"The Idol" is set in the background of the music industry in Los Angeles, and focuses on Jocelyn's journey, as an aspiring idol.
This movie introduced a splendid cast, including Lily-Rose Depp, The Weeknd, Dan Levy, and Troy Sivan.
In particular, prominent South Korean star Jennie of the girl group BLACKPINK made her acting debut in the American film. The idol immediately gained attention both in Korea and abroad for her new image as an actress.

In response to the news, a media outlet released a statement regarding Jennie's appearance. According to them, the organizers have yet to confirm whether Jennie will be present at Cannes.
They added that since the 27-year-old idol is best known as a member of the mega-popular group BLACKPINK, it would be a great and huge opportunity for the celebrity.
On the other hand, BLACKPINK Jennie is not the only Korean act that is rumored to appear at the 76th Cannes International Film Festival.
