Intending to attract more moviegoers due to the fierce competition from online streaming platforms, and big-budget international movies, the South Korean film industry is ready to fill the summer with new exciting shows and revive the country's film industry.

Numerous Korean films prepared by talented directors, writers, and actors are predicted to boost the box office this summer. 

Featuring diverse genres of action, thriller, and sci-fi, viewers have more options to choose from.

Kim Seon Ho

Coming this June 21, Kim Seon Ho's movie debut, "The Childe" is finally meeting the viewers after almost two years of waiting. The breakout star is set to showcase another yet fulfilling role in his first big-screen appearance.

Kim Seon Ho plays the character of Childe. Different from his past roles, the actor will transform into a mysterious nobleman. The movie showcases the chaotic chase that starts when the mysterious nobleman, along with different forces, embarks on a mission that aims to pursue Marco, a promising boxer in the Philippines, who travels to Korea to find his biological father.

Doh Kyungsoo

Idol-actor D.O. is returning to the silver screen this August 2, with the sci-fi movie "The Moon." 

The film follows the story of an astronaut abandoned in space and a man on Earth who is desperately trying to save him. Doh Kyungsoo is Sun Woo, the astronaut who got stranded in space due to an unexpected accident. 

Brilliant stars Sol Kyung Gu and Kim Hee Ae will share the frame with EXO's D.O. in this project. "Along With the Gods," director Kim Yong Hwa helmed the movie, which marks his first film about space.

Jo In Sung

Viewers are about to see Jo In Sung, Kim Hye Soo, and Yum Jung Ah's fresh rapport in their upcoming film "Smugglers." The action-crime movie is set in the 1970s in a small village by the sea. 

It features the journey of two women, who get caught in a high-stakes smuggling scheme. Park Jung Min, Kim Jong Soo, and Go Min Si will also appear in the movie. The expected release of "Smugglers" is between July and August. 

Park Bo Young

Following her hit movie "On Our Wedding Day" in 2018, Park Bo Young is making a big screen comeback this year. She will headline the long-awaited disaster movie "Concrete Utopia" where she takes the role of a nurse. 

Joining her in the film are Park Seo Joon and Lee Byung Hun. The thriller movie is about the aftermath of a devastating earthquake that happened in Seoul. It will follow the story of survivors gathered at the apartment, the only building left standing after the disaster. 

Though there is no confirmed date of release yet, the production spoiled that it might hit the cinemas in the summer of 2023.
