Apart from a slew of up-and-coming stars, 2023 showcased K-dramas featuring renowned South Korean stars who made a bold comeback this year.

From Song Hye Kyo's "The Glory" to "Uhm Jung Hwa's" medical series "Doctor Cha," a slew of notable actresses have had successful returns in smash hit K-dramas.

Interestingly, this star hit their "second heyday" with a newer generation of viewers who were amazed with their top-notch acting skills.

Here are K-drama actresses who are currently enjoying their "second heyday" through their latest on-screen projects.

Song Hye Kyo

Definitely one of the most talked-about Korean celebrities is Song Hye Kyo.

After making her return to the small screen with the melodrama "Now, We Are Breaking Up" in 2021 together with Jang Ki Yong, the 41-year-old actress kept making headlines through the success of "The Glory."

After getting a "lukewarm" response from the public for her K-drama comeback, Song Hye Kyo once again proved she still deserves the title "Hallyu Queen."

Apart from her ageless look, the public lauded her acting skills as she plays bully victim Moon Dong Eun.

Interestinmgly, her performance in "The Glory" gained Song Hye Kyo the Best Actress trophy at the Baeksang Arts Awards 2023, surpassing the equally talented stars like Kim Hye Soo, Kim Ji Won, Bae Suzy, and more.

Lim Ji Yeon

Another "The Glory" actress who seemed to be enjoying her second heyday is none other than Lim Ji Yeon.

Playing the villain role of Park Yeon Jin, the 32-year-old star took the world by storm with her stunning portrayal of the series' antagonist.

Unlike Song Hye Kyo, who had years of hiatus, Lim Ji Yeon starred in "Money Heist: Korea Part 2" and "Rose Mansion," both in 2022, but she made a huge mark on the audience through the K-drama "The Glory."

In addition, she also took home Best Supporting Actress at the Baeksang Arts Awards 2023 for her role as Park Yeon Jin.

Uhm Jung Hwa

The award-winning actress had a successful return to showbiz after joining the star-studded cast of "Our Blues."

However, Uhm Jung Hwa gained huge attention from the public after playing the role of Cha Jung Sook in the recently concluded medical K-drama "Doctor Cha."

The JTBC series garnered an impressive rating and was one of the most talked about K-dramas of 2023.

Viewers were delighted with her character and team-up with Kim Byung Chul.

Kim Tae Hee

Last on the list is Kim Tae Hee, who returns to the small screen after the tvN series "Hi Bye, Mama!" in 2020.

The Hallyu star will once again showcase her versatility as an actress as she plays an interesting character in "Lies in My Garden."

Viewers are thrilled to see Kim Tae Hee on her K-drama comeback along with Lim Ji Yeon.
