The long anticipated romance drama "See You In My 19th Life" has stolen the hearts of viewers since its premiere with its engrossing premise and whimsical visuals.

In its second week, the work has enjoyed great reviews and high scores, proving its popularity. However, the drama also experienced small hiccups during its debut.

Shin Hye Sun is put under the microscope for her performance as its lead star. Here's what happened.

Shin Hye Sun Criticized For 'See You In My 19th Life' Performance

Shin Hye Sun and Ahn Bo Hyun's "See You In My 19 Life" is now in its second week.

Since its premiere, the drama has received great response from the audiences. It also received high scores in terms of viewership ratings, much to everyone's delight.

Thanks to the work's excellent script and various elements that create a colorful narrative, the drama continues to enjoy its popularity not only in the domestic but also in the global scene.

In particular, the meeting of top stars Shin Hye Sun and Ahn Bo Hyun was received well by the public, giving justice to the webtoon-based series.

However, there were still viewers who weren't satisfied with the actors' performances, especially fan-favorite actress Shin Hye Sun who returned to the small screen after two years.

Shin Hye Sun's portrayal of the role was claimed to somehow lack energy and enthusiasm compared to child actress Park So Yi who plays the younger version of the older actress' role.

The exceptional performance of Park So Yi led to disappointment when Shin Hye Sun "failed" to keep the young star's momentum with her lackluster acting.

In addition, many believe that the 30-year-old star is too mature for the image of Ban Ji Eum who just entered her early 20s.

Fans defend the actress, saying that the work has just begun and Shin Hye Sun will surely win over the hearts of the viewers with her outstanding performance as the story progresses.

Shin Hye Sun is a multi-awarded actress who starred in high scale works including "She Was Pretty," "The Legend of the Blue Sea" and "Mr. Queen."

Shin Hye Sun Reveals Dedication For New Acting Role

"See You In My 19th Life" marks Shin Hye Sun's return to the small screen years after her previous work ended.

Director Lee Na Jung praised Shin Hye Sun for her dedication for her new acting role, saying that she's honored to work with the South Korean star in a fantasy romance drama.

Besides her cider-like charisma and synergy with the rest of the cast ensemble, Shin Hye Sun also changed her looks in order to immerse herself in Ban Ji Eum's character.

The actress sacrificed her hair and cut her fringes for the first time for a role, which she hasn't done before in her older works.

Catch Shin Hye Sun in "See You In My 19th Life" every weekend at 9:20 p.m. KST on tvN. It is also available on Netflix for worldwide viewers.
