However, Iran viewers call the attention of the production due to its alleged historical distortion. Here's what happened.

'See You In My 19th Life' Under Fire For Historical Distortion

For two consecutive weeks, Shin Hye Sun and Ahn Bo Hyun's "See You In My 19th Life" has dominated the global entertainment scene.

Its engrossing premise piqued the intrigue of viewers, following the life of an incarnated woman who lived for a thousand years with the intention to reunite with her first love in her 19th life.

The chemistry between Shin Hye Sun and Ahn Bo Hyun has hooked viewers of all ages. However, some Iranian viewers weren't impressed with the Netflix series.

"See You In My 19th Life" production team's attention was called as the Iranian viewers expressed their distaste for the work as it allegedly distorted the rich history of their people.

In one episode, Shin Hye Sun's character has been reincarnated into an Arabian man living in the 10th century and claims that he's the father of an alcoholic drink called "arak," the origin of South Korea's most famous soju.

Unfortunately, Iranian viewers found this detail culturally insensitive, claiming that the alcohol was discovered by Abu Bakr Al-Razi, an Iranian philosopher, alchemist and physician.

They claim that he discovered acid sulfuric and ethanol, the ingredients to make such drinks like vodka, tequila soju. The Iranian viewers demand an explanation as to why the Netflix show stated that he was Arabian instead of Iranian.

As of this writing, the legal team of Netflix hasn't responded to the request of the Iranian viewers, leaving distaste as "See You In My 19th Life" heads into its third week of broadcast.

'See You In My 19th Life' Tops Netflix Global Charts

Amidst the controversies surrounding "See You In My 19th Life," the work unlocks a new milestone much to fans' delight.

With only two weeks of run, the drama has already topped Netflix's Global Charts in more than 30 countries including South Korea, Japan, Indonesia, the Philippines, Brazil and more.

In the overall rankings, "See You In My 19th Life" took the No. 6 spot in the non-English TV series, proving its skyrocketing popularity.

In addition to that, the romance drama also climbed to a high score of 5.8%, breaking its own record. Despite the criticisms, the series continues to soar higher to success. Catch "See You In My 19th Life" every weekend at 9:20 p.m. KST on tvN and Netflix.
