'See You In My 19th Life' Ratings Drip With New Episode

Shin Hye Sun and Ahn Bo Hyun's "See You In My 19th Life" sees a slight decline in ratings with its newest episode.

For two weeks, the work has received positive feedback from the viewers. It is one of the most awaited series of 2023 and since its premiere, fans showed their immense support to the production.

On July 2, "See You In My 19th Life" released its sixth episode, the final episode of its first half of broadcast. It also depicted the climactic reveal of Shin Hye Sun's character's identity.

Unfortunately, the drama failed to record a new personal best with the latest episode despite the exciting scenes between Shin Hye Sun and Ha Yoon Kyung who play the roles of two sisters.

It is speculated that the series experienced a rating slump due to the string of controversies that had been linked to the tvN drama. In its third week, "See You In My 19th Life" production was called out by Iranian viewers for distorting their history.

Because of this, "See You In My 19th Life" episode 6 only recorded an average nationwide score of 5.5% which is 0.2% lower than the drama's personal best.

On the brighter side, the drama still has plenty of time to bounce back from its slight dip as it heads into its second half of broadcast this July.

'See You In My 19th Life' Remains Silent Amidst Controversies

On July 1, Iranian viewers called out the production unit of "See You In My 19th Life" before the new episodes of the work were released.

The foreign viewers expressed their distaste for the work as it allegedly distorted the history of Iran. In an episode of the series, Shin Hye Sun's character had been reincarnated into an Arab man.

He created the alcoholic drink called "arak" in the 10th century, which was the origin of South Korea's most famous soju. However, it didn't sit right with Iranian viewers due to its insensitivity to their culture.

They claim that the alcohol was discovered by an Iranian physician and alchemist Abu Bakr Al-Razi, and demand an explanation as to why the Netflix series stated that he was Arabian.

Amidst the allegations, Netflix released the newest episodes of "See You In My 19th Life," much to some viewers' surprise.

As of this writing, no statement has been released in regards to the issue. Netflix also hasn't responded to the request of the Iranian viewers, leaving a sour taste on the international fans.

On the other hand, "See You In My 19th Life" airs every weekend at 9:20 p.m. KST on tvN and Netflix.
