Jin Goo's Side Denies Fraud Allegations

Earlier this 2023, Jin Goo drew negative reactions among fans after he was involved in a fraudulent case.

According to reports, an anonymous administrator of an online community was arrested for conducting a fund-raising business without permission which violates the Act on the Aggravated Punishment of Specific Economic Crimes.

The arrested person allegedly stole approximately 12 million USD since November 2019, and was reported to have celebrity connections including Jin Goo.

On July 19, Varo Entertainment, Jin Goo's agency, released a statement to clarify the issue. The company firmly denied the allegations, stating that Jin Goo has no relation to the case.

Although they confirmed that Jin Goo was acquainted with the person who was arrested, the company reiterated that they had no business connections nor financial transactions at all.

"Jin Goo wasn't aware of the dirty transactions and only learned of the relevant issue through the press," a representative of the agency added.

Since the actor's name rings a huge buzz on social media, Jin Goo is being criticized heavily. The agency also stated that they will take action against malicious comments on their talent.

Jin Goo's Fraud Case Expected To Affect Career

Before the issue blew up and tainted Jin Goo's reputation, the actor has been quite inactive in the entertainment scene after returning with two high scale works in 2022.

The actor joined the star-studded cast of the high grossing film "The Witch: Part 2. The Other One" in 2022 alongside Park Eun Bin, Shin Shi Ah and more.

It was the sixth highest grossing movie of 2022 with more than 3 million viewers during its premiere. In particular, Jin Goo also starred in the OCN drama "A Superior Day" last year.

Unfortunately, it didn't receive the same attention despite being one of the most awaited comebacks in 2022. Fans were underwhelmed with the popular actor's return.

It reached 1% during its release but failed to rise up from its stagnant ratings. Many viewers felt sorry for Jin Goo's superb performance which was wasted in the mediocre work.
