Here's Why Park Seo Joon Stopped Doing Rom-Com Dramas

Park Seo Joon emerged as a rom-com king through the hit series "She Was Pretty," "Fight for My Way," and "What's Wrong With Secretary Kim." However, since then, he has been steadily working on a wide-range of genres other than rom-com.

Through these changes, fans who loved his romantic-comedy dramas are missing seeing him in a romantic project.

In an interview with a media outlet, the actor confessed that he wanted to try working on different genres.

"I have been meeting the viewers a lot in the rom-com genre, so I think I am continuing because I want to do other genres of works." He continued, "Rom-com is different, but I don't want to keep missing out on the fun."

He emphasized, "Of course, I like rom-com, but I think it's a difficult genre, and I want to do something else, not that I won't do it."

In addition, the heartthrob said that his movie "Concrete Utopia" and the upcoming Netflix series "Gyeongseong Creature" have different genres. And despite working on those, he still doesn't know what kind of work he'll do next.

"I think I'll choose what I think will be fun to do. Even if I say this, I can do romance comedy once I receive a good script."

Meanwhile, the soon-to-debut actor in Hollywood made his return to the silver screen with the disaster film "Concrete Utopia."

In November, international fans and viewers will meet him again in his first-ever American movie "The Marvels."

Adding to his project this year is his drama with Han So Hee and Wi Ha Joon, "Gyeongseong Creature," which is tentatively for release in the fourth quarter of 2023.

Even before the drama premiere, it is already confirmed with another sequel and is now in the process of production. His labelmate, Bae Hyun Sung is being courted to join him in the second installment of the Netflix drama.
