Webtoon and "Moving" screenwriter Kang Full talked about the casting process for the 20-episode series, and revealed why he wanted Cha Tae Hyun to play as Lightning Man.

The Disney+ series is currently making a huge craze as viewers get hooked on every episode of the action sci-fi K-drama. Based on the webtoon written by Kang Full, "Moving" is directed by Park In Je of "Kingdom" season 2. It depicts the journey of three high school students who have superpowers that they inherited from their parents.

Among the lead stars is Cha Tae Hyun, who plays as Jeon Gye Do, a.k.a. the Lightning Man.

'Moving' Writer Kang Full Personally Offered Lightning Man Role to Cha Tae Hyun

Jeon Gye Do's story was revealed during the premiere of "Moving." He looked like an ordinary bus driver but harbors superhuman powers.

He used to think that his lightning ability was a curse because he had difficulty landing a job because of it. Not until he auditions as the first Lightning Man, a fictional character who possesses the same power as him.

In an interview obtained by a local media outlet, Kang Full said that he personally wanted Cha Tae Hyun to play the role. Since he "actively participated in casting," he offered the role to the actor, who gladly accepted it.

"When I thought about who could play this character, I could only think of actor Cha Tae Hyun, so I even cast myself," he shared.

Kang Full also expressed his gratitude towards the actor for perfectly playing the role despite the character being "very difficult" to portray.

Interestingly, Lightning Man was not part of the original webtoon but created the character for the K-drama adaptation. According to the writer, he created Jeon Gye Do because he wanted "a middle generation between parents and children."

In "Moving," Jo In Sung and Han Hyo Joo played as Lee Jung Ha's parents, while Ryu Seung Ryong portrayed Go Yoon Jung's father.

As for Cha Tae Hyun, he had no child in the story but depicted his relationship to his family and father, where he got his superpowers.

On the other hand, Kang Full discussed Jeon Gye Do's special ability and said that the character is the "most difficult to express" and, at the same time, a "lonely character."

"He has no choice but to be at odds with anyone because static electricity is generated in his body, he wears gloves, and he has the most unattractive superpower," he furthered.
