The long wait is over, as Netflix officially dropped Bae Suzy's new drama "Doona" along with Yang Se Jong.

Based on the webtoon "The Girl Downstairs," it depicts the unlikely friendship turned into romance between a former K-pop lead vocalist, Lee Doona, played by Bae Suzy, and 2nd year engineering student Lee Won Joon, played by Yang Se Jong.

'Doona' Episode 1 Recap

The episode began with Lee Doona dreaming about her performing in front of a big crowd when she falls in water and wakes up from a dream.

This signals that she has let go of her dream with the reality far from it.

On the other hand, "Doona" episode 1 introduces Lee Won Joo as a second-year engineering student who decides to live in a shared apartment and move away from his parents house to save time driving from home to school.

One of the things he had to do was find a part-time job to sustain his studies.

As Won Joo moved to his new place, he saw Lee Doona at the front door but did not recognize her. Meanwhile, it was the other way around for Doona because she got annoyed at what Won Joo was wearing.

It was a special piece of merchandise from Doona's group owned by his friend, who is a huge fan of the K-pop star. That is also the reason why he wasn't able to recognize her at first because he wasn't a fan but only knew her through his friend.

As their paths crossed, Won Joo was confronted by Doona because he kept on singing her songs. At first, she thought that he was doing it on purpose, but she learned that he meant nothing to him.

After their brief dog-cat relationship, Lee Doona and Lee Won Jo unexpectedly clicked; however, she warned him not to fall for her.

Lee Doona was grateful for the start of her budding friendship with her dormate, and for her, it felt like it was destined.

'Doona' Episode 2 Recap

Titled "Getting to Know Each Other," Lee Doona started warming up with Lee Won Joon. At the same time, she gets acquainted with his close circle, especially Kim Jin Joo, who has been his longtime crush since high school.

As the duo gets drunk, Jin Joo decides to sleep over at Doona's, but an unexpected incident happens between her and Won Joon.

At the roof top, being a gentleman as he is, Won Joon was looking after the drunk Lee Doona when she accidentally slipped.

Thankfully, Won Joon's reflexes were fast, and they were able to catch Doona. At this point, their faces were so close to each other, as if they were about to kiss.

The incident haunted Won Joon till the next day, and she was bothered that Jin Joo revealed that she saw them.

Won Joon denied that there is nothing going on between them, but Jin Joo thinks that there's going on between them.

The next day, he told Doona about this and gave her honest thoughts about it. She thinks that Kim Jin Joo liked him, but Won Joon disagreed.

Instead, she gave him advice on how to woo a girl.

In the latter part of "Doona" episode 2, the story revealed Lee Doona's struggle as a part of the K-pop group.

Apart from having issues with anxiety and mental health, she didn't get enough support from her manager, who seemed to also be her lover.

At this point, it took a toll on her, especially with her health, and she collapsed in the middle of her stage performance.

This might be the reason why Doona let go of her fame and chose to live under the radar.

'Doona' Episode 3 Recap

Lee Doona is still haunted by her past, but thankfully, she now has Lee Won Joon right beside her.

While Won Joon helped Doona heal from her trauma, Lee Doona, on the other hand, helped him decode what Kim Jin Joo was showing him.

The third episode focuses on the connection between the trio. Lee Doona's closeness to Won Joon seemed to bother Jin Joo, but she didn't show it.

As for Won Joon, he continues to like her but feels like she is sending mixed signals to him.

On the other hand, Doona pushes Won Joon to pursue Jin Joo, but she is getting jealous of Doona and Won Joon's closeness.

Another highlight of the third episode is how Doona felt unsafe in her home.

After suddenly leaving her career, she has become paranoid about her surroundings; however, this time it's real.

She discovered that someone was stalking her, but thankfully, Won Joon and her housemates dealt with it.

In the last scene, it showed how Doona and Won Joon's closeness was getting deeper.

At this point, he has become her safety blanket, and she feels safe around him.
