Lee Young Ae Chooses 'Dae Jang Geum' As Best 'Life Work'

On November 29, a video featuring Lee Young Ae was shared on the official YouTube channel of Elle Korea magazine.

This December, the veteran star is set to dominate prime time with the thriller series "Maestra: Strings of Truth," which marks her first-ever comeback in a year.

In the exclusive interview, Lee Young Ae reflected on her long-running career and revealed that she would love to try singing, and become an idol if she is to be born again.

She also selected "Dae Jang Geum" (internationally known as "Jewel in the Palace") as the work that best represents her career and peak beauty.

Lee Young Ae reasoned that it was the time that she challenged herself with lots of crying scenes. She said, "It was a time that I almost gave up on my appearance because I couldn't take care of my skin."

Looking back, the actress realized that she looked beautiful on screen despite her swollen eyes due to countless crying scenes. Lee Young Ae was thirty-three years old then.

Now that she's in her 50s, she cares less about her appearance, and is now more focused on her acting in order to deliver a moving and entertaining work.

Lee Young Ae To Make Orchestra Conductor Debut In New Drama

This 2023, Lee Young Ae is finally coming back to prime time as a genius conductor in "Maestra: Strings of Truth."

The work stars the veteran as Cha Se Eum, an orchestra master who possesses a charismatic personality. However, she also hides a dark secret.

As she goes on about her day, she begins to be suspicious of occurrences inside her own orchestra that leads to the revelation of truths and more.

Catch "Maestra: Strings of Truth" this December 2 at 9:20 p.m. KST on tvN. It will air every Saturday and Sunday.
