Park Seo Joon Reveals Surprising Reason He Decided to Use Stage Name: ‘Saying it made me nervous’
"Gyeongseong Creature" star Park Seo Joon opens up about his stage name and what prompted him to change his birth name.
Promoting for his K-drama comeback, the South Korean actor appeared on tvN's entertainment show "You Quiz on the Block," where he was asked by host Yoo Jae Suk about his real name.
Park Seo Joon Shares Why He Opted to Have a Stage Name
It turned out that Park Seo Joon was only his stage name, and the reason why he opted to change it was quite an intriguing story.
Park Seo Joon's real nanme is Park Yong Gyu, to whom the host reminds him of the veteran actor who appeared in "Run On," "Work Later, Drink Now," and has portrayed father-in-law roles in various K-dramas and films.

According to "The Marvels" star, he was often called "father-in-law" back in high school because he had the same name as the veteran star.
Due to this, he would gain attention from his schoolmates, which he finds uncomfortable because he used to be shy back then.
"I've always been a shy and timid person, ever since I was a child. I was so timid that I couldn't order food at diners. And in high school, saying my name in front of the class made me nervous," he recalled.
The "Itaewon Class" star also shared what made them pick "Seo Joon" as his stage name.
The actor tells Yoo Jae Sook that, as part of his preparation for his debut, he wanted to choose a more common name.
"The one they gave me was 'Si Jun'. But when I thought about it, I wasn't sure. So I made a small change and made it 'Seo Jun', which felt right," he said, and the rest is history for him.
Park Seo Joon Teams Up With Han So Hee in 'Gyeongseong Creature'
Following his Hollywood debut, Park Seo Joon returns to the small screen with an interesting team-up with Han So Hee.
Starring in the upcoming action historical series "Gyeongseong Creature," he transforms into a wealthy businessman named Jang Tae Sang.
During his interview with "Yoo Quiz on the Block," the host mentioned that it took Park Seo Joon and Han So Hee one year to speak with each other casually.
Park Seo Joon went to explain the reason behind it.
"It just felt more right to talk politely to co-stars when we first worked together. Even after working with the person for a while, I found it hard to start talking casually to them."
"Gyeongseong Creature" is the first work that Park Seo Joon and Han So Hee starred in together and is set to premiere on December 22.
