Choi Sooyoung Illegally Filmed During Her Stage Performance in ‘Wife’ + Management Responds

Choi Sooyoung Illegally Filmed While Changing Clothes in Between Her Play Performance

On January 7, Choi Sooyoung made headlines after her fans were accused of causing inconvenience in the middle of the play as they surprisingly took photos of the show without considering other viewers.

Due to this, the management of the play released a statement saying that they would strengthen measures to prevent the incident in the future. However, on the same day, it was reported that there were members of the audience who were illegally filming the play.

In particular, a man who appeared to be a fan of Choi Sooyoung took out a camera and filmed a scene where the actress was changing clothes on stage while watching the performance.

A netizen shared that the play was in full swing when Daisy (Choi Sooyoung's character) was changing clothes on the right side of the stage and it was clearly not time to take photos, but the man took out a camera and began taking pictures like crazy in rapid succession.

Management to Strengthen Measures & Add Rules for Smooth Viewing

In addition, other viewers complained that filming was aimed only at specific actors. Many took dozens of photos and no one stopped them. Several audiences continued to report that they had experienced inconveniences due to the filming of videos and photos.

Despite all the complaints, the management responded, and unfortunately, did not catch the person illegally filming Choi Sooyoung while she was changing clothes.

"It seems like we were unable to find the culprit (the person filming illegally) because we were in a blind spot at the scene. We have coordinated to strengthen staff overall starting from today's performance."

The management further explained:

"The production company will also announce that interior filming is not possible when viewing the performance. We will also issue a notice targeting foreign viewers.

We plan to take strong action against such illegal filming or uploading of footage and secondary processing. We also plan to continue monitoring."

"Wife" is a play that features the story of individual equality and freedom by portraying social perceptions of sexual minorities in four eras.

This marks Choi Sooyoung's stage debut, and will run until February 8.
