Park Seo Joon Believed To Have Jeopardized Career With 'Gyeongseong Creature'

The long wait is finally over as "Gyeongseong Creature" finally wrapped up its highly regarded season this week.

Starring Park Seo Joon and Han So Hee, the Netflix series follows the story of two individuals who fight to take down a monster born by humankind's greed that threatens their lives in 1945.

Although it stars two of the highly loved K-drama stars, the work has been embroiled in various controversies. Before 2023 ended, Han So Hee was accused of being "anti-Japanese."

To recall, the Netflix series was based on "Unit 731," a biochemical unit of the Japanese imperial army that conducted experiments on humans. While the work was lauded for its realistic depiction of history, many Japanese fans were enraged.

Han So Hee was even called out for appearing in the work despite having a big number of supporters in Japan. Not only that but Park Seo Joon was also questioned about his choice of drama.

Like his co-star, Park Seo Joon also has a loyal following in Japan, especially at the height of the hit drama "Itaewon Class," which now has a Japanese remake called "Roppongi Class."

The actor's Instagram was bombarded with negative comments, and the actor was called names for pointing out Japan's shameful history. Many believe that he should have chosen an "issue-free" show to maintain his image.

However, many defended the actor, saying that he can choose whichever work he wants to do, and that he's free to feel anything about people that she dislikes.
