Choi Sung Eun Reveals Struggles During ‘My Name Is Loh Kiwan’ Filming: ‘I’ve forgotten everything’

Following the growing success of the Netflix drama film "My Name Is Loh Kiwan," fans were let in on the behind-the-scenes of the film after Choi Sung Eun got candid about her experiences.

In a follow-up interview by Herald POP, the actress dished on her unforgettable moments during filming, and her struggles during her preparation for the role. Keep on reading to know more.

Choi Sung Eun Dishes On Struggles During Filming

On March 8, rising star Choi Sung Eun talked about her experiences during the filming for her comeback film "My Name Is Loh Kiwan."

In the project, she transformed into Belgian-Korean woman Marie who becomes North Korean defector Loh Kiwan's, played by Song Joong Ki, a refugee during his escape to Belgium.

The actress took on the challenge to portray a jaded woman who has given up on life. Her seamless synchronization gained huge traction, receiving favorable reviews from the viewers.

"I tried to approach Marie by embodying her personality," the actress shared. According to her, she focused on her smokey eye makeup to showcase her life burden. As the drama progressed, she transitioned into a more innocent and softer-looking appearance.

The actress also revealed her struggles during filming. To recall, the cast of "My Name Is Loh Kiwan" spent more than five months in Budapest, Hungary to film the movie.

"I learned French three months before filming," Choi Sung Eun revealed. "However, I've forgotten it before we arrived in Hungary. Thankfully, my teacher was with me the whole time."

She made everyone laugh, saying that it made her a little smarter. Meanwhile, Choi Sung Eun confessed that she became "greedier" for high scale projects after starring in the Netflix film.

Choi Sung Eun Shares Plans For Acting Career

After starring in "My Name Is Loh Kiwan," Choi Sung Eun developed a different thirst in taking on more challenging projects.

She said that although traveling for work was difficult, the experience and the different atmosphere of the environment gave her a different encouragement to do well at work.

"I became greedy for overseas projects. I now have an open mind to the idea. I want to experience it all," she added.

As for her dream role, Choi Sung Eun wishes to play a character with a bright, optimistic nature. She reasoned, "I'm always emotionally affected when playing a dark character. I want to see how a bright role affects me."
