Yoo Ji Tae Impresses After Joining Juries for Prestigious Jeonju International Film Festival

Yoo Ji Tae continues to prove that he is more than just an actor. Best known for his role in "Money Heist: Korea," the actor will showcase his significance in the Korean entertainment industry by being part of the 25th Jeonju International Film Festival as part of the jury. 

Yoo Ji Tae Announced as One of the Jury In 25th Jeonju International Film Festival

In a report, the committee officially unveiled the list of jury members from around the world, who will be joining this year's event.

Set to evaluate diverse global creative works and highlight the future of Asian cinema, the 25th Jeonju International Film Festival welcomes Yoo Ji Tae as part of the annual ceremony.

The actor/professor has been appointed as a juror, along with key personalities in film, such as Canadian writer Dara Campbell, Argentine director Matias Pineiro, and Portuguese director Joao Pedro Rodrigues. They are the selected jury for the international competition section.

For more than two decades, the Jeonju International Film Festival has honored individuals who have shown great excellence in film. It is recognized as one of the most important film festivals in Asia for welcoming independent and experimental films both locally and internationally.

As for the 25th Jeonju International Film Festival, it is scheduled to kick off on May 1 until May 10 at the Korea Sound Culture Center with the theme "We Always Cross the Line."

With this, 232 movies from 43 countries are scheduled to be screened.

K-drama fans might recognize Yoo Ji Tae as the Professor in "Money Heist: Korea" and the fierce cop Cho Heon in "Vigilante."

Not everyone is aware that Yoo Ji Tae is an accomplished director and screenwriter for several movies. When he was starting out, Yoo Ji Tae also tried his luck in writing and directing.

His directorial debut was the 2003 youth drama film "The Bike Boy," and he was able to release three more movies, including "How Does the Blind Dream," "Out of My Intention," and "Invitation," which he co-directed with Chris Marker.

Other than being well versed in movies, the actor continues to widen his knowledge by enrolling in various courses. He has a bachelor's degree in Dankook University's theater department, followed by a master's in filmography at Chung Ang University.

In addition to this, he also earned a Master's in social services at the Catholic University of Korea.

In 2021, he returned to school to study videography techniques at Chung Ang University's photography department.

Currently, he is a professor at Konkuk University, College of Art and Design, Department of Moving Images.

In an Instagram post, Yoo Ji Tae impressed his followers for encouraging them to take risks.

"Even if I don't have time, even if I'm already too old, even if it's too late."

As for his on-screen appearance, he will be returning with another interesting K-drama, "Villains," with Lee Bum Soo and Kwak Do Won.
