Bae Sung Woo returns to K-drama through the Netflix series "The 8 Show."

The controversial actor, who went on hiatus after being involved in a drunk driving incident, graced the stage to join fellow co-stars Ryu Jun Yeol, Chun Woo Hee, Park Jung Min, Lee Yeol Eum, Park Hae Joon, Moon Jung Hee, and Lee Joo Young, together with screenwriter and director Han Jae Rim, at the press conference. 

Ahead of the show's official premiere, Bae Sung Woo greeted the media with an apology, expressing his regret regarding his actions.

In a report, Bae Sung Woo bowed his head as a sign of apology and briefly responded to the 2020 drunk driving issue. 

According to him, he had some apprehensions that his previous issue would have an effect on the upcoming K-drama. 

"I worried about impacting my colleagues due to personal issues."

Expressing his deep regret, he apologized for the disturbance that it caused people. 

"I worked diligently on this project, hoping to minimize disruption for everyone involved. I deeply apologize for any inconvenience caused."

The 51-year-old actor made headlines in November 2020 after he got booked by the police for drunk driving. 

At that time, Bae Sung Woo was caught driving under the influence after drinking with an acquaintance in Gangnam, Seoul. 

During the investigation, it was found out that his blood alcohol level reached the point where authorities needed to revoke his license. 

In addition to this, he was also fined 7 million KRW, or around 6,400 USD, on charges of violating the Road Traffic Act. 

The controversy also led him to step down from his lead role in "Delayed Justice" and be replaced by top star Jung Woo Sung.

An adaptation to the Naver webtoons "Money Game" and "Pie Game," "The 8 Show" is an upcoming psychological thriller K-drama that showcases the story of eight individuals who are experiencing financial struggles and were invited to a secret game.

However, they realized that they were trapped inside an eight-story vicinity where they had to participate in a sweet yet dangerous high-stakes game. 

Their mission is to survive the death-defying challenges to claim the coveted cash prize. 

"As time passes, award money accumulates indefinitely," a phrase flashed on the official trailer. 

Following the release of an intriguing teaser, "The 8 Show" release date is set for May 17.

The eight-part episode K-drama is available exclusively on Netflix. 

Meanwhile, the upcoming psychological thriller series will be Bae Sung Woo's first K-drama in four years. 

Aside from this, viewers will get to see more of the actor as he headlines upcoming K-dramas such as "Light Shop" with Ju Ji Hoon and Park Bo Young.
