tvN is postponing the much-awaited release of the medical K-drama "Resident Playbook."

Following the public's anticipation for the "Hospital Playlist" spin-off, drama officials have announced that they will be halting the premiere in 2024.

Showcasing an interesting cast lineup, the series will be headlined by "Alchemy of Souls" star Go Yoon Jung, along with Kang You Seok, Shin Si Ah, Han Ye Ji, and Jung Joon Won as the lead stars.

Helmed by the creators of the hit K-dramas "Reply" and "Hospital Playlist" series, Director Shin Won Ho and writer Lee Woo Jung, the medical K-drama will highlight the friendship and the realistic stories of people working at the Jongro branch of Yulje Medical Center.

tvN Halts 'Resident Playbook' Release This 2024

Per reports, the rescheduling of the series premiere involves the recent incident regarding mass resignations among medical residents.

In exclusive news by local media outlet SPOTV News, the "Resident Playbook" release will not be happening this 2024 since it will be difficult to continue with the broadcast amid the height of the mass resignations in the medical field.

As for the new release date, TVN and drama officials have yet to announce the target release date.

In March 2024, thousands of trainees from 100 hospitals participated in the protest in the form of mass resignations to counter the government's plans to boost the number of medical school enrollment quotas by 2,000 from the 3,058 in hopes of addressing the shortage of physicians in different rural regions.

The healthcare standoff continues as a number of medical students went on leaves of absence or boycotted classes as a protest to the government.

As for the upcoming K-drama, TVN has laid out alternatives by delivering different K-dramas to viewers.

'The Midnight Romance in Hagwon' and 'The Auditor' Replace "Resident Playbook' in Broadcast Schedule

Instead of "Resident Playbook," TVN will release the office investigation action drama "The Auditor," which stars Shin Ha Kyun, Lee Jung Ha, Jin Goo, and Jo Aram.

The 12-part episode series will focus on Shin Cha Il (Shin Ha Kyun), who works as the leader of the audit team at JU Construction, and his working relationship with his rookie employee, Gu Han Soo, played by Lee Jung Ha.

Meanwhile, viewers will get to see "The Auditor" in July.

As for "Resident Playbook," this will be the second time that TVN has announced a rescheduling of its broadcast.

Initially set to air after "Queen of Tears," the broadcast network opted to postpone the target airing due to the medical standoff.

Instead, TVN went for "The Midnight Romance in Hagwon" release, starring Jung Ryeo Won and Wi Ha Joon.

The romance drama officially aired on May 11, with a broadcast date every Sunday.
