If there was one prominent theme among this year's popular dramas, it was fantasy. While there were melodramas, romances and historical dramas of merit this year, quite a few of the popular dramas featured paranormal powers.

So, if you like your dramas with a dash of the supernatural and you missed any of these, it may be time to catch up.

Here are a few dramas in which characters could read minds, see ghosts or had unusual abilities.

In "The Master's Sun" Gong Hyo Jin's character sees ghosts but she never considered it a good thing. Her otherworldly visitors torment her until she finds a man whose touch can make them vanish. All she has to do is convince him to let her get close.

In "Who Are You?" So E Hyun can also see ghosts and they need her to help them resolve their unfinished business. Unfortunately, one of those ghosts is her lost love, played by Kim Jae Wook.

In "Gu Family Book" a mountain spirit played by Choi Jin Hyuk falls in love with a human and they have a child who is half mythological creature and half human. That child, played by Lee Seung Gi, has to learn to control his inner beast and become more human than gumiho.

In "I Hear Your Voice" Lee Jong Suk looks like an ordinary high school student but he has an ability that he acquired during tragic circumstances. He can hear what other people are thinking and that's not always a good thing.

In "Nine: Nine Time Travels," Lee Jin Wook traveled through time with the aid of some magical incense to try to prevent the tragedies that befell his family. He learns the hard way that changing one thing can set new tragedies in motion. The drama attracted the attention of American producers and will be remade as an ABC television series.

Time travel also played a part in "Future's Choice," starring Yoon Eun Hye, Lee Dong Gun and Jung Yong Hwa. In the drama Yoon Eun Hye's future-self travels back through time to help her avoid making marital mistakes.

And how about UFOs? While no has disapproved the existence of UFOs, for now we have to categorize alien earth visits as science fiction. Kim Soo Hyun plays an alien in the new drama "You Who Came From The Stars." His character landed 400 years ago during the Joseon dynasty and stayed around. He is supposed to avoid close involvement with humans but love may interfere with his plans.

Will 2014 feature more fantasy dramas? If only we could read minds or travel into the future, we could let you know.
