KBS Awards: Kim Hye Soo Honored
Kim Hye Soo took the top prize at the KBS Drama Awards for her work in "Queen of the Office, a drama adapted from the Japanese drama "Pride of the Temp."
The actress reflected on what a gamble it was to attempt the title role.
"When I read the preliminary script for the first episode of 'Queen of the Office,' I thought it might be a reckless choice but I gathered up my courage and committed to the production," she said.
Fortunately it turned out well.
"It was a special production so I thank those who gave me the opportunity to be in it," said Kim Hye Soo.
The Best Actor Award was split between Joo Won for his portrayal of the autistic savant in the medical drama "Good Doctor" and to Ji Sung for his role as the revenge-driven chaebol in the melodrama "Secrets."
Best actress went to Hwang Jung Eum, the woman Ji Sung hunted and loved in "Secrets."
A Netizens Award was given to Joo Won and Hwang Jung Eum.
The Excellence Actor Award for a mini-series went to Oh Ji Ho for "Queen of the Office."
The Excellence Actress for a mini-series award went to Yoona for her work In "The Prime Minister and I."
Joo Sang Wook, who played the doctor that first rejects but learns to value Joo Won's character in "Good Doctor" won an Excellence Actor Award for a medium-length drama.
Moon Chae Won, who played Joo Won's colleague and love interest, won an Excellence Actress award for a medium-length drama.
Jo Jung Suk and Jo Sung Ha shared the Excellence Actor in a long series award. Jo Jung Suk appeared in "You're The Best Lee Soon Shin," while Jo Sung Ha won for "Wang Family." Jo Sung Ha also appeared in "Gu Family Book."
Excellence Actress in a long series went to Lee Mi Sook for "You're The Best Lee Soon Shin" and Lee Tae Ran for "Wang Family." Lee Tae Ran also appeared in "Goddess of Marriage."
The Director's Award, which is chosen by all directors, went to Joo Won.
Best supporting actor and actress went to Bae Soo Bin and Lee Da Hee for their work in the melodrama "Secrets."
Ji Sung and Moon Chae Won earned the Popularity Award. The Best New Actress Award went to IU for her work in "You're The Best Lee Soon Shin" and Kyung Soo Jin for playing the young Son Ye Jin in "Shark." Kyung Soo Jin also appeared in "That Winter the Wind Blows."
